This forum contains threads to discuss teams themselves. Anything not technical about the cars, including restructuring, performances etc belongs here.
Someone on Twitter mentioned that Lotus are looking like they will be adding Honeywell to their roster of sponsors. Another big name, so if they were struggling with cash-flow this year, it looks like they've solved that for next year. That might be an ace for them to use in negotiations with Total as well if that secures enough funding that they could easily do without Total money and go for another driver.
As for Kimi, I don't think he was playing mind games. And if he was, it wasn't with Lotus, but with the press. Reports from Finland say that everything was signed, done and dusted for next year in Valencia already and it was just the announcement that they were holding off on for one reason or another.

They waiting too much because Lotus F1 Team is on selling. Genii Capital want to sell team for about 100 millions euros (including financial debts).
Probably after new owner of team is decided, they will bring annoucment for second driver. Contract with Coca-Cola, and
4th place in constructiors will bring about 60 million euros and this mean good financial background for pay employess. This means someone can buy this team for only 40 millions euros.
Also for second seat, person who will drive next season will probably pay his seat. Grosjean paying his seat 30 millions from Total, Lopez want more money from Total (because of his consistantly poor performances, losing crucial point) or find driver who will bring every race about 6 points (on market are Kovalinen and Kobayashi). I dont see any other driver free on market.
Where do you have those fitures from?
On another note, the Lotus factory had some upgrades this year in May and August that are expected to be fully functional at the end of this mont - beggining of January and they plan to invest more in order to be ready for 2014, so that is good.
"...and there, very much in flames, is Jacques Laffite's Ligier. That's obviously a turbo blaze, and of course, Laffite will be able to see that conflagration in his mirrors... he is coolly parking the car somewhere safe."Murray Walker, San Marino 1985

Whe whole post doesn't make much sense. Saying nothing of the lack of any source to back it up, the conclusion that Lotus team could be bought for 40 millions is really short-sighted. Because you would by F1 for the sake of just having one? What about money for running the team? Paying the salaries, development and manufacture of parts, paying for engines?
It's been a long time since we drove last time, but it has also been a short time at the same time

Mercedes buyed Brawn for 60 million. And Brown buyed Honda for 1 dollar i think. Lotus is on same position like Brawn 2009. in 2010. If Genii want sold a team for 100 millions, someone pay 100 million, but FIA and new sponsor will give him 60 millions, this mean he buyed team for 40 millions.
Genii will sell Lotus, if they dont secure big deal sponsorship and money for devolopment. Why do you think they looking for sponsor money. Genii alone cannot secure financial support for Enstone.

That still doesn't make any sense. If Genii want $100m, they're not settling for $40m. If someone buys Lotus from Genii for $40m, they're not going to let Genii take $60m out of the team's funds. That's taking creative accounting to whole new levels.
Genii and Lotus are looking for sponsors same as any of the other teams and for the same reasons: to make sure they have enough to run a decent operation and hopefully have enough to be competitive through the whole season. I understand the whole "no smoke without fire" thing, but in that simile a team actively looking for sponsors doesn't count as "a fire".
I heard some rumours that Lotus is working on new sponsorship deals: a title deal with Honeywell, sponsorship from Mastercard and Samsung.
Toghether with Microsoft and Total that would give plenty of prestigeus stickers on the car. Te problem is that there is no space on the car already

MasterCard are meant to be doing trackside sponsorship, and surely Samsung would be headed to Sauner through the Chelsea deal?
