It´s not like you throw everything away after 2012 and start afresh with new working methods as soon as Hamiltons contract starts.
Bell is in all this long enough to be responsible for W03s concept.
willis and Costa are long enough in all this to be responsible for ANY upgrade we have or have not seen this year.
They all are long enough in the boat to carrry full responsibility for the right or wrong methods MGP ids applying.
You are naive thinking it will all come good after this season...The tide was going down massively ,not up.Tell me one single team which showed a massive downwards trend and bounce back with new car and competitiveness ...oops I know just one :

Seriously ,a sustained upturn of form and capabilities should have beeen already visible towards the end of the year bt in my biased perception it looked like MGP was completely stuck with ideas and direction come season finals when everybody else seemed to come alive.

Willis and Costa joined Mercedes in september 2011. Aldo Costa will design a complete new car for 2013. You can't blame Elliot, he left Lotus a few months ago.

So Willis, who is is directing the technical upgrades of the factory including calibration of windtunnel is responsible for the W03?


Which leaves us with Costa, you going to start throwing mud at him because he didn't make enough upgrades in his first 11 months at Mercedes? On someone else's car(biogis)? With as many intricate issues as they had(FW DDRS)?

That is more than a tad harsh IMO.

Merecedes is taking a risk by dropping Schumi for Hamilton. They're doubling down in driver talent. I think Hamilton will outpace Rosberg by the same 3 to 6 tenths that he outpaced Button. Then Mercedes will have no more excuses. Regular wins will make that move seem genius. A lack of regular wins will make the Hamilton money seem like good money thrown after bad. We'll see...

Because the team is fading into oblivion since Monaco?

Because the Brackley team even with so many acquisitions shows year-in year-out that it is not fit to carry the Mercedes name?

Because we have been hearing for months that "all the pieces are now in place", yet we seem them fall as hard as I have ever seen a team fall despite all of the investments.

Because so many capable people can't cooperate to find a solution to the constant tire/down-force problems. That or they are really overrated.

Have you noticed how quiet things have been lately? No hints, no rumors, no apologies, this is the brewing ground for speculation, and yet no one is biting. It's a shame that people expect nothing from this team, it's not like they can't take a step forward, in fact I believe that the W03 was a limited design, and it's development was abandoned in pursuit of next year's car. I don't know if the car will be a winner, but it will definitely be up there. We are just about to start seeing the effects of the teams new resources develop a car and not just the leftovers of the Honda era.

1.As far as I'm aware Costa has only ever been working on the W04. winth304 himself has given us the links for that.

2.The major architect of the W03, Bigois, left in April/May.

3.Bob Bell is in charge of engine integration and a liaison between Brackely(team) and Brixworth(engines)

4.Willis has been working to upgrade the windtunnel. His role is not defined as design.
Mercedes abiding problem is aerodynamic.

5.Mike Elliott joining is part of there being a restructure. Costa and Elliott will together. And as Elliott joined in the middle of the year, I don't see how the previous 3 years issues at Mercedes can be lumbered on his doorstep. Or any of the new recruits as it happens.

If you are quoting then please correctly: Brawn said that Costa "currently" works on 2013s car or concentrates on or similar..nobody ever claimed he has not worked on anything else.That´s your speculation -please feel free to prove me wrong.
