back on thread..... i think it's a mistake for Mercedes to reveal car at Jerez ! with a guy like Hamilton they can have a show at launch ... something like w01.

Just out of curiosity, do we now believe that Mercedes delayed the W03 launch to 'hide things', as I believe they claimed at the time, or because they were late?

If I'm not mistaken, there were spy shots of the car on a filming day almost a week before the official debut. I think the car was as ready as any for pre-season testing.

Sure, that's what they said - but a) it wasn't exactly an obvious technology, easily hidden (how long did it take for it to be sniffed out?) and b) only double-diffuser style gains would have outweighed missing 1/3rd of the testing IMO, and it obviously wasn't going to be that effective.

it's a little different.... if any teams know about DDRS since first Test probably at first stage all top teams will have it (or maybe later) because is easy to change things at car when season didn't start.

I don't know why Mercedes doesn't want to have publicity .. last year sneak peek game was amazing and all forum tried to post something ...

I hope not.....they may already have those staff already and just want to add more to the work force.
Although, on the Pattern Makers job role it's to make 50% scale models for wind tunnels....haven't they got a 60% tunnel now?

back to the topic:

Mercedes was one of the first teams which tested the DRD. I wonder if they will have it finished until the tests?
(which doesn't mean that they show it )

On the otherside it could be that they saw last year that an innovative system is not a big advantage.
But if they really found 1.5sec until chrismas they must have something big. Or do you think they found 1.5sec by doing evolution of the old car?

or maybe they are recruiting for the other design team, which deals with the W05. that would be more likely.

Re exhaust pipe(s). I presume that you are aware that there will be a new exhaust configuration on ALL cars. A single pipe coming from the turbo, along centre line. How on earth could Merc already know that thery will have an improvement over others, at this early stage? No one has even run their 2014 car yet.

How will that be? There is a single turbo and this will be fed by the two banks. Are you saying that the exhaust can then be split, aft of the turbo? Seems a little odd.

I just hope this year the car is a beauty at least. That way if it sucks we can still say it´s pretty

The Mercedes cars have looked horrendous frankly and it doesn´t help with the livery that looks like it´s oil-stained.
