I wouldn't be surprised if they all had stepped noses to begin with, and the modesty panels will be tested to understand the relative gains/losses.

As I said about the Lotus though, I would have thought it makes sense to shove one on for publicity purposes even if you have no intention of running it, just to get the headlibne "prettier F1 car" etc.

But all the cars will have stepped noses underneath anyway - regardless of whether they decide to use the panel - so it's unsurprising that they are there in some form.

Is it just me or does it look short and stubby, just like the failed project that W02 was? Especially in the engine cover and the sidepods area...

The lights lies our eyes. The nose seems to be stepped, but draw a line from the Mercedes emblem and you will see.

Agree, I think they've made it look like a step, but it isn't, unless it's one very strangely shaped nose!

it probably is actually! it is the ddrs rear wing! i take back my post that the w04 will have a stepped nose! it is not the w04 in the pic!

It's not entirely true as a statement, cars are almost always presented with last year's wings. So it might be the W04 with the older wings, many teams do that trick.

while that is true! i think that because of that prominent feature of the DDRS system i think that they would launch the car with an early iteration of their rw for the w04...but i might be wrong

i'm not sure but the distance between the rear wing and the airbox seems to be not so long...
