So, autosport.com got a little confused I think (not the first time they got it wrong with the tyres compound in testing).
Mclaren seem to think they used the Hard tyres for Jensons fast lap...

a I missed this, if they say they used the hard and not the supersoft than it is great.
Finishing races is important, but racing is more important.

The red and orange tyres are easily to be confused. A little bit of shadow, a little bit of a different color palet on the screen, and you are not far from mixing them up. But McLaren confirmed the time indeed was on the hard ones. A very nice feat.

If I am correct, the hard is 1.5 seconds slower then the supersoft one?

Looks like Lotus have the shortest wheelbase in comparison to other top teams, no?
If they can save rear tyres that is going to give them quite advantage.
Fernando Alonso is the best pay-to-drive driver in F1 with the biggest amount of money behind him.

No doubt focusing on the rear of the car, and the Coanda flow over the rear of the floor. Be interesting too if said film was made available to the public!

They're clearly red and given that confident teams are pretty blase about fast times my suspicion meter is twitching given that they felt the need to tell everyone they did the time on the hard tyre. Remember, a Formula 1 team doesn't tell you something for nothing.

Mclaren looks like a great car, a car neither perez or button deserve or will do justice to, got a feeling they will iron out there constant mistakes/blunders this year to, such a shame lewis wont be there to take advantage. Although i do understand why he left and actually agree in the long run.

Don't be such a sour pus..

The car that stopped on the circuit in the morning had supersofts fitted

when it set the time in the afternoon it clearly had white hards on...as can be seen in Javerts video..

Could it not be the colors fooling people? The new hard is orange, and at speed may look like the old supersofts. I thought Pirelli only brought the softs medium and hardss to Jerez?

White markings are not hard, they are mediums. There wasn't a single shot anywhere of a McLaren with hard tyres that I have seen. Which makes the choice of language all the stranger. This is a picture of Grosjean on hards, so no, they're not easy to mix up:

I know it's not related to the car, so my apologies, but:
The Italian manufacturer will provide each car with one set of soft tyres, six sets of medium tyres, seven sets of hard tyres, three sets of intermediate tyres and three sets of wet tyres. The supersoft tyre will not be provided because of the particular characteristics of the Jerez circuit

Mclaren wont be far ahead.. Regulations and refinements from the other teams wont allow it.. barring a tyre roullette I think it is going to be very close this year.
