I don't think it's a matter of, "You get this car, and YOU get that car." Willis and Bell are doing R&D, scouting up ahead and exploring paths, so when it's time for Costa and Elliot to step in they have a foundation of research to stand on. I believe that's what Brawn was explaining when he said that Costa was currently handling the W04 and Willis the W05 (and Bell handling engine integration).

Eventually Costa will move onto the W05 and and Willis will start doing R&D for the W06.

You have the first part right, Bell and Willis are in R&D and Costa and Elliot are production (IT terminology) guys...what you got wrong was the switch, that isn't on the cards, Willis will always be the R&D guy and Bell will return to his role managing the co-ordination between R&D and production.

Daimler shareholders are again demanding F1 withdrawal:

I guess its only a matter of time now.
Does anybody know how much % of shares DWS and Union has of Daimler?

Found it, together only 5% if I interpret the numbers correctly... or 0,6%... :?

Mercedes is now obviously the Mercedes engine works team. Bob Bell is heading up the engine integration. The engine will be built to Mercedes chassis specs, not Mclarens. It sounds like Honda had plans to return to F1 because the new engine formula mirrors future Honda products/technology, but Mclaren are pushing them to enter sooner so they are not left out on the engine integration benefits from day one.

AMuS reports (17.02.2013) that those demands by the shareholders have been immediately rejected by the Daimler Group.

"Our commitment (to the F1 project) is for the long-term. We do not want to pull out of Formula 1 at all, on the contrary."
said a Daimler representative (Jörg Howe) on Sunday.

Guys dont get fooled by the laptimes. It says nothing since we cant see which tyre and which fuel load the teams used to achieve the laptime.
Don't forget the wo2 was fast over 1 lap and that is not they way you have to go.

In general, I feel happy and comfortable in the car and it feels better than the last time we were here at this track. There is still some work to be done on tyre degradation and our programme this afternoon was helpful in understanding that.

The board voted unanimously to keep Dr. Z in charge for another 3 years. Good stuff.

Good news indeed.

The earlier story of Mercedes shareholders wanting out of F1 now appears muted if not dead. The majority of shareholders will be happy to see Zetsche stay on, as under his guidance they continue to grow and make big profits.
Allied to this, the massively untapped(for Mercedes) younger market has just recently being opened up by the new A-class which has a predicted volume of 3 times it's predecessor. Spin off models using the same platform and parts are also on the way for other sectors of the market like the CLA, which is being targeted for the burgeoning Chinese middle class.

All of it adds up to bottom line profit, of which Mercedes will be adding to for a 5th consecutive year.
Let's hope the Mercedes F1 team can move in the same upward trend in the next few years.

I suspect there was a compromise reached between Zetsche and the board. Probably why Lauda and Wolff own what 40% of the team now? They'll likely buy out the rest within a few years.

I suspect it will come down to how the next few seasons pan out, how wealthy are Lauda and Wolff by the way?

Wolff and Lauda are not wealthy to the point where they can afford to own and operate a team like Herr Mateschitz. There are rumors that they are bankrolled (partially at least) by Mr E to help keep Mercedes on the grid.

I could easily see them getting backing within a year or two when Mercedes has had quite enough of empty promises.

Lauda and Wolff with MrE's blessing will revive the Brabham team with some nifty Parmalat sponsorship.
