Kimi Raikkonen has converted a brilliantly working 2-stop strategy to a race wing for Lotus, immediately confirming the long run pace of the E21. Fernando Alonso finished in second place, 10 seconds behind while Sebastian Vettel completes the podium in third.
Alonso and Lewis are sandbagging, especially the Ferrari, that car looks like it has so much more time there. Vettel looks as if he is pushing but not giving it 100%, car looks good. Button looked like he was struggling to control the car.
I don't know what the representative times were for their respective laps but those RB/FE/MERC look great. The Macca seems to be a bit of a dog.
i don't know why people are surprised by red bull dominance. It was clear since last races of 2012 that they will be THE TEAM this year.
Surprise should be McLaren who lost time over the winter.
Actually almost all teams are exactly where they finished last year with one little exception (Mercedes , they are much closer but this is just the first race) I think Lewis boost the team a little and his boost is much power than car .
and @GrizzleBoy just think if McLaren with that huge rear can't maintain the pace how will be without (less grip) and Melbourne isn't Monza
I really want to thank Jules Bianchi for smashing Max Chilton. He just trashed him over 1 second faster. After the last test you could immediately see that Chilton is a rubbish driver Bianchi who never drove that car was 0.5 second quicker within 30 laps. Max Chilton is waste. I really hope Bianchi trashes' Max during the whole season. Bianchi is already my favorite driver for the 2013 season, can't stand pay drivers that take up seats they don't deserve. Really loved how Ted Kravitz put it out in the open, all the others were glancing over that topic because he is British. Also loved how Sutil reinstating himself against the in my eyes over-hyped Di Resta. Sutil will beat Paul this season hands down. Already making mistakes, looks if the pressure is getting to him. Felipe Massa I really hope is pace is genuine because I really feel that Massa can beat Alonso when everything goes for him. But the biggest question mark was Lewis's unfinished time on the SS-tyres. He was faster then Vettel without cutting a chunk of the chicane. That was easily 0.1 - 0.15 seconds worth. So i reckon Lewis could have done the fastest lap in FP2.
Really dissapointed by Williams and BOTTAS. Both talked the FW35 up, but with the inexperience of both Bottas and Maldonado I was expecting this. Being quicker then last year is no improvement in F1 as anyone improves. Think Force India did the best job of the midfielders strong line-up and quick car. P6 is the constructors championship is really achievable.
I was looking at the onboard of the Ferrari that car in my eyes doesn't look as planted and stable as the Lotus or Merc.
Irvine:"If you don't have a good car you can't win it, unless you are Michael or Senna. Lots of guys won in Adrian Newey's cars, big deal. Adrian is the real genius out there, there is Senna, there is Michael and there is Newey. They were the three great talents."

I agree about the Ferrari. Especially in turns 11 & 12 it looks like he had very good turn-in and grip through there and definitely left some time on the table.

If you remember, Vettel also didn't set his 1:25.9 on a new set of supersofts. When he was on that fresh set then he was already 5-6 tenths up on his previous best but was blocked by a slow car in Sector 3 - so a 1:25.4 was easy for him. So even if Lewis would have kept that lap clean, still Vettel would have set the fastest time in FP2 by atleast 3-4 tenths- which in my view is very ominous knowing that Red Bull don't show their real pace up until Qualifying
Mercedes is genuinely quick, bloody hell Hamilton made the right choice switching camp.
Think Hamilton and Vettel will fight for pole with Raikkonen possibly upsetting Hamilton for 2nd.
Red Bull just looks plain mighty. As if it´s got quite a lot more downforce.
Lotus looks brilliant on race pace, Mercedes overall good in every aspect.

It'll take a brave (or insanely stupid) man to bet against Vettel. If he doesn't mock up, he'll win easily even if it rains.

One thing I especially noticed about Ferrari is that they were consistently slower by 4-5 tenths in the final sectors compared to Red Bull, Mercedes and Lotus. The Ferrari didn't look like it was struggling through the faster corners 13 and 14, so what might be the reason for their loss in speed there?
Hamilton's pace on supersofts was very good in sector 1 but he went off in sector 2 which tells me he was pushing more than Vettel.
Merc's reliability looks worrying though. They definitely have the speed, but Rosberg was sidelined with a problem related to the gearbox (which is never good news), and Lewis said there was a problem with the car after he beached it in the gravel.
Does any1 know what problem Lewis' car had ?

Regarding Vettel cutting the Chicane how often does he do that and if he does it often or when he does it. Well is he penalized do they tell him anything how do they deal with that an do those times and laps help him win pole or even races how often does this happen'?
