He is saying that on those times where the Red Bull cars where comparable between Ricciardo and Vettel during the Silverstone test, Ricciardo was faster... according to his sources.sennafan24 wrote:I am struggling to figure what Benson is saying by 2 tenths, is that a estimate of reflective times? Like say Riccardo did a lap with more fuel that was slower that Vettel, but difference in times was not greater than what the fuel variable difference was meant to cause?
Either way, Benson has been reporting a lot of exclusive stuff lately from Red Bull sources.
And here we go again lol. Listen mate, I get your point. Not going through this again.munudeges wrote:I'm assuming, because Benson doesn't say, that some Red Bull people, whoever they are, talked about one or more selected laps that Ricciardo did and when compared to Vettel they were favourable. The way it's written they could be making any number of comparisons there. There certainly wasn't a general paddock feeling of 'Wow!' with Ricciardo in the test though.
Benson's journalism is beside the point and trying to create a strawman there won't work I'm afraid. You know better. The fact was that when you look at the times Ricciardo was not faster.
I certainly don't get yours, but I suppose that is the point. So you're wrong then?JimClarkFan wrote:And here we go again lol. Listen mate, I get your point. Not going through this again.
I think so too.sennafan24 wrote:Right, I get it just wanted to make sure.
I strongly favor Vettel to out-perform Riccardo next year. I hope I am wrong, it would make things really interesting if Riccardo could mount a competitive challenge, if not in 2014, then in the years after that.
I know you don't get mine.munudeges wrote:I certainly don't get yours. So you're wrong then?JimClarkFan wrote:And here we go again lol. Listen mate, I get your point. Not going through this again.
The bolded bit I cannot agree with more, balance is never present in debates about Vettel I have read. I also agree he is in the top 4 drivers, but where is among those 4 is hard to determine.JimClarkFan wrote: I think so too.
Vettel finds himself in a weird, and as Raymonda says, lose-lose position regarding his perception by others when partnering Ricciardo. My own personal opinion is that I don't think anybody knows for sure just how good he is. Yes he is a top 4 driver (Vettel, Alonso, Rai, Ham), but where abouts does he fit in?
I think Vettel is also overrated and underrated in equal measure by others, some people have a hard on for him, others think he is this most hyped driver in recent memory.
Personally, I think Vettel would be very difficult to beat by anyone in that red bull. It was built for him.
I 2nd that and the 12-0 qualifying record and WDC position right now is a good indication of how well vettel is driving at the moment and nothing is going to change in 2014.WhiteBlue wrote:Ricciardo will not trouble Vettel. He has still a lot to learn. Just speed isn't enough to lead a championship winning team. Vettel has tremendous speed and gets better with every year. So I do not see him being under threat from Ricciardo.
Probably because there wasn't one, and I'm not alone. The times from the test were pointed out, Vettel was faster, and then someone pipes in with the 'Not what I have read'. You're right though. It's not what you have read.JimClarkFan wrote:I know you don't get mine.
