nooooooooo! the guy deserves a drive (in my hugely bias opinion), got f*ed by Renault and clawed his back in, it would be a shame to see him go!

Meaning Hulk didn't have the required sponsorship $$$. The Mexican loot has run out, time for Sauber to panic...
More likely meaning, as stated by Cooper that the relationship has soured due to him talking to other teams. Or that they already have two drivers signed up now...

I wonder how team bosses think about such things, drivers talking openly with other teams. I don't think there's bad blood between hulk and sauber. But I would not want to be a stopgap. Only if it was [insert very hot women in here] 8)

swiss papers published clouds in Saubers (Kaltenborns) relationship with Hulkenberg early on .Monisha was a bit miffed when Hulk did terminate the contract on grounds of non payment -which fueled the financial downward spiral for the team even more.
the statement of Hulks Manager that sauber is a risky proposal for a contract but from the heart Hulk wanted to be there was not helping either..

I think both parties know on the sporting side they are an ideal fit .I rate Hulk a lot higher than Perez and Kobayashi tbh but Kaltenborn cannot afford to devalue or question Maldonado or Perez .

One might question raw speed of the hulk (i do not!) but his driving error rate is amazing ,considering his limited experience.
the only true slip up was last year when tangling with Hamilton -he just wanted that win too eagerly.

I read Force India indeed still owed Hulk his salary from 2012 and it was a welcomed chance to demand that money as a entry ticket to further negotiations.

just been watching a video interview with newey who stated that ricciardo was judged best able to follow vettel's driving style

interesting to hear confirmation that the decision as to who should should get the seat was made by the big boss , marko , horner ....and newey ! I was surprised to hear that mark told the team he wouldn't be re-signing before mid season

from previous comments from newey webber gave much better feedback on aero where he is very sensitive , but vettel stronger on the mechanical side ; although it was always said that the decision to keep re-signing mark came from the top it seems that newey wanted him there despite the difficulty in packaging him...and you would have to have a pretty strong case to overrule newey

I wonder if Webber saw himself as crucial to Redbulls/Vettels success (perhaps due to set-up / development contributions), but shafted too many times in team-strategy decisions or lack of feel of a level-playing field. If there's any truth to it, perhaps at some point, the desire to leave Redbull and F1 was stronger than ensuring his part in a continueing success of a team (-mate) he doesn't like much.

It will be very interesting to see if the success of Redbull continues in 2014 with Vettel and Ricciardo or if that "something" will be suddenly missing... Although with all the changes in 2014 from engine to aero, one can then speculate if and how much was down to Webber or the new rules... Hmm.
Not for nothing, Rosberg's Championship is the only thing that lends credibility to Hamilton's recent success. Otherwise, he'd just be the guy who's had the best car. — bhall II

Webber was offered the chance to spearhead his beloved Porsche's LMP campaign, at 37 how many more chances would he have got to leave F1 at the top and do something he loves.

Webber's announced via twitter he'll be competing for Porsche in the Bathurst 12hr race in February with Eric Banna!

Should be an awesome combo and Eric has quite a bit of experience racing Porches himself at the National level.

If you haven't seen "Love the beast" I highly recommend it, Eric's 600+ HP Falcon Coupe is simply epic!!!
