No. no need to use a real chassis. they use a moke up...gray41 wrote:Nico already tweeted about his seat fitting, would that imply the W05 tub is crash tested and ready?
Formula 1 teams will be allowed to test in Bahrain later this month following a request from Pirelli last month, the FIA announced on Monday.
The F1 Commission said it had agreed to change the sporting rules that ban testing until next year on safety grounds.
Teams will therefore be allowed to carry out a three-day tyre test at the Sakhir circuit from 17-19 December.
All teams were invited to the tests, but only Red Bull, Mercedes, Ferrari, McLaren, Force India and Toro Rosso accepted the offer.
The remaining five teams - Lotus, Sauber, Williams, Marussia and Caterham - will be absent.

Well I haven't seen the new regulation set but if they have totally abolished the test regulations for the rest of the year then in theory they could show op in whatever they wanted toSectorOne wrote:Would it be against the rules if you showed up with an early 14 car? The sponsor deal ran out at the last race. Or the last day of November im not sure. So they could run without the Vodafone logos. The question is if they want to re-paint the whole car just for at test run. (Im saying this as i expect them to run their 2013 racer).gray41 wrote:Chance McLaren will run without Vodafone sponsorship, some of the Magnussen videos he's wearing a pain McLaren shirt not a Vodafone branded one?
It would be very usefull. But i hardly think anybody would do that. Just like with the 2014 chassis if you've found a loophole or anything like that you want to reveal this as late as possible.Diesel wrote:2014 cars are unlikely to be ready yet, but I imagine 2014 engines would be ready. What's to stop them throwing a 2014 engine in to a 2013 chassis? I would imagine any track mileage on a 2014 engine would be useful.
Id guess the car will run with the red splash, without the vodafone decals applied.Holm86 wrote:The sponsor deal ran out at the last race. Or the last day of November im not sure.
