There wouldn't be any fight. Vettel gets first pick.

Vettel would choose 14 because it would annoy a competitor.

Amongst his many talents is presumably being psychic as the numbers were submitted weeks ago.

Vettel choosing 14 is just a joke made up by either a Spanish fan or Spanish media. Then German reporters seemed to have picked that up on Twitter. They say December 28th is April Fools' Day in Spain?

It doesn´t seem to be that much of a consistent number,

But maybe he won some championship with it that made him go for it.

This backs up the 44 claim (Hamilton's helmet for the 2010 Monaco Grand Prix).

In NASCAR, Indycar, V8 Supercar and many other series the teams actually "own" the numbers... so if a driver gets sacked and someone filled his placed he'd be driving that number. Or else the driver can make a request to change the number when he comes over or ask his old team to give his new team the number.

F1 could just do that where numbers stay with the teams on default and the drivers are able to requesting numbers go with them if they switch teams.

BTW a Dale Earnhardt 3 on a f1 car would be lawlz. Wonder if Riccardo would do that... he said he was a fan. It was on Tony D'Alberto's v8 supercar!

...Especially as that's the first roulette wheel ever to have a 44 on it...
