Scuderia Ferrari have officially opened the voting to decide which will become the official name of the team's 2014 Formula One contender. The team has made 5 choices available with 2 currently the clear favourites.
A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.
Just thinking along the lines of the water/air intercooler that is rumoured to be in use in the ferrari powerplant.
I think that they went for a system that might give them scope for development:
There will be an incremental engine freeze, and the turbo and ancillaries are excluded from this engine freeze (at least for the first two years).
The water/air intercooler does pose problems in terms of packaging and cooling and weight reduction and centralisation.
My thought to this is that they might have selected this option to enable them more freedom for development of the powerplant, keeping in mind that there have been good developments in the heat dissipation and heat exchange Fields.
