"Wir haben mittlerweile die Bestätigung: Sowohl der McLaren als auch der Force India waren bei Ihren Bestzeiten jeweils auf Supersoft unterwegs." - AMuS

Both, the FI and McLaren were on SS.

Button said in jerez new tyres are about 5/10s slower. And SS are easily 2.5s faster than medium, at least from what we've seen last year.
Also In 2013 barcelona testing nearly all cars were faster than what they could manage during the race weekend. I'd take nothing out of these times. I still fully expect 2013 cars to beat 2014 cars into submission by a huge margin.

Any news on the tyres for Alonso's last run? He was fastest of all in the middle sector, so you'd imagine either soft or super soft.

according to autosprint he was on soft

may I ask you where I can find the partial timing (for the different sectors I mean...)

How long was Kobayashi's stint? It's me or he spent the last 30 minutes in the track?

I really hope that Alonso's tyres for that time were not mediums, because if the time was on medium they are really competitive.

On italian blogs are saying that it was soft not medium, but surely not super softs. I read yesterday that the difference between soft is faster than medium by -800. And super softs than soft by half a second. So supposing that time was on medium, even if he would have had super softs he would have been +106 of Kevin's time.

It just so happened they mentioned it on autosport - wish I had that timing data myself!

What is the difference between soft and super softs? If I don't understood wrong the difference between soft and medium is -800. I suppose that between super softs and softs we have to had another -800.

I think that it's not so easy to know precisely...they say 800 but with what precision?
after all they are all using new compounds with totally new cars...I would say that the teams themselves do not know these data precisely yet...

Thanks :)

I'm relieved :D So Magnussen's time of -1606 on super softs is superior to Alonso's time on soft. If we take -800 the difference between softs and super softs it will still remain almost a full second in Kevin's favour =D>
Kevin's time was set on a 5 lap stint, while Alonso's time on a 6 lap stins, so the fuel have to be the same [-o<

it seems confirmed soft, not medium for alonso.
the positive thing for ferrari fan I think is not the time itself (on a relative base I would say that magnussen time on ss is better than alonso on s still by a certain margin) but the fact that ferrari didn't use ss at all. They were not seeking an hot lap: a sign of a certain confidence.

Mclaren and force india used ss for sure.
anyone knows about mercedes?
