Mercedes AMG F1 W05

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

It just seems like the "new nose works better with it" scenario is a much more realistic answer then having a new 2010 Silverstone incident.
Oh I see that part now, trust me to be trigger happy on the reply button. In that case I agree with you.

W05's steering wheel.

It is quite interesting, that they resigned from linking hand grip with main part in the lower section. And I think screen is noticeably bigger than ever. Maybe it's Nico's steering wheel and the screen is touch-screen one, so that he could do Twitter when leading with 1s per lap...

Are the entry/exit dials for adjusting the diff?

From what I read, the grip was something Lewis preferred. The screen is a standard part now for all cars. I'm not sure if any car on the grid doesn't have these now.

Here's a video for reference of the 2013 wheel(s) considering ros/ham had different preferences. I wonder if they both have the exact same wheel now?

I noticed that actually quite a few cars do not use the new displays yet. I was quite surprised to see the old style glowing red digits display in many in-car shots.

Thank you for the clarification. :) I wasn't paying enough attention to the steering wheels during the race so I missed that.

Six of the teams are using the PCU-8D

Its not like you need the new steering wheel. I know Caterham and Williams arent using it and also perhaps Red Bull using standard ?

Re: Mercedes AMG F1 W05

I moved all the posts related intercooling to 2014 Intercooling topic: http://www.f1technical.net/forum/viewto ... =4&t=16626

Please understand that while the discussion is very technical as we'd like to see it general, it didn't have anything specific to do with the mercedes W05 thread.

The Mercedes AMG F1 W05 thread is about things you can "see and touch" on the car. Please try to keep it that way. if you want to talk here about the W05 intercooler, then that's fine, but do make sure it's about that specific intercooler.

I very deeply encourage all participants of the moved discussion, to continue the discussion about intercooling in general, in the 2014 intercooling topic: http://www.f1technical.net/forum/viewto ... &start=180. The discussion was highly useful on itself, and I'd regret if it died now. So again, please continue the discussion there!

I doubt it, too.

AMuS said that the nose failed the FIA Crashtest again:

Sorry but that article on AMuS was posted just after Aus GP, so it meant to failed it prior to Aus GP. There has been no news on whether it has passed/failed another test since.
