Yes. I miss the races where slicks don't make any appearance.
Yea , but the FIA no longer let's f1 race in the wet, so, changeable conditions are the best we'll get.

Maybe that had something to do with --- full wets which were just awful in every way. Apparently they're much better this year, so we could actually see some wet racing.

I also expect ric to kill vettel here, mainly because we now know ric is better in high speed turns than vet, and silverstone is full of them.

Alo will own rai.
Hamilton WILL win this one. There's just no other way.

Same situation as with Mark then, which Vettel said was better in the high speed stuff. (Webber has been doing pretty well in Silverstone over the years)
Vettel said he noticed Ricciardo was more on a par with him around the track than his former Aussie teammate, Mark Webber.
“With Mark, I think it’s fair to say he was very, very good in high-speed corners, and showed me the limits sometimes, but it’s fairly even – let’s say – around the lap with Daniel.
“You can’t say in a certain type of corner (Ricciardo’s) gaining and losing in another.”

My opinion is that once Vettel figures this formula out, he will consistently beat Ricciardo.

I find this interesting:

I'm more inclined to believe Alonso's assessment and that the gap in Austria was so low because Mercedes were trying to avoid the high settings to ensure they didn't get a repeat of Canada.

Difference to webber, while there, was more or less negligible. You don't take pole and win suzuka 4 times out of 5 if you're noticeably slower in high speed sections.
Difference to ricciardo this year seems much more pronounced, and we have a perfect yardstick ahead of us - silverstone. I hope for dry quali with no problems for either of them so we can get a clear picture.

When/if he does this, it better be sooner rather than later.

I don´t think that´s really what he ment. More like Webber being very good in high speed corners and sometimes used to show Vettel where the limit was.

Suzuka is so much more then just being really good in the high speed stuff.
It has so many tricky corners where you can loose massive amounts of time and i think that was where Vettel made the difference to Webber.

Also now simulators might be a different thing but looking at the usual simulator lap from Hamilton it seems he´s easy flat through T5. I can not hear a lift through there but as i said, not exactly like the real world.

It changes every 12 hours, rather dry on Sat & Sun. Wet Q won't matter, for something interesting there has to be rain on Sunday.

I think we will see a very dominant Mercedes win if they have sorted out there brake and overheating issues. This track reward down force and mechnical grip in the slow bits. The track is almost made for the W05, also with Pirelli choosing to bring the mediums and hards will hurt other teams that can't generate enough heat to switch them on. The Mercedes powerunit advantage will be huge here. High fuel consumption and no heavy breaking zones means that its hard to charge the battery every lap. Mercedes has the most powerful and fuel efficient ICE and also a really efficient MHU-H.

I put William up there if only because they are good at getting heat into the tyres this year. The extra tyre traction will make up for their slight downforce deficit.

That's quite an extraordinary claim. How do you know that Ricciardo isn't the one who actually has more left on the table, and once he discovers it, he will beat Vettel by an even larger margin that he already does?

Highly unlikely in my opinion.

Once Vettel figures out how to drive these cars he will start enjoying the fruits of having Ricciardo´s extra weight bolted to the floor itself and can start exploiting that properly.
