williams new wing

Post

I didn't watch the practice session on tv, but from some of the photos I've seen it would seem that now williams too have copied the ferrari engine cover wing. Is this so? If it is, then do you reckon it's just a special feature for low-downforce monaco, or whether the wing on williams is "here to stay"?:-s

Probably here to stay. The engine caover wing is used to minimise turlent air flow from the air box to the rear wing. Not a downforce generating device.

Then why's it shaped like an aerofoil? I happen to remember that a few years ago williams used the same type of wing on one particular race, and the reason given then was to add more downforce. :?

Err...sorry about that..I got confused.I wasn't clear that whether you are talking about the wing on the airbox or the engine cover. As you can see,Williams are also using airbox wings like Ferrari and BAR.If you are mentioning the wing on the engine cover, then they didn't copied Ferrari.Renault used it in Monaco last year.
