Your First Car

Post

Seeming as I just bought mine, I thought I'd create a thread, for other members to share, as well as share their memories of the car!

Mine is a 1998 Ford Ka, 1.3L engine, 80000 miles, not great, but hey, does what it needs!

Hopefully I'll have some good memories of it, and will replace it with something a little nicer

1996 lime green, nissan micra twist... 22,000 miles on the clock and when i sold it it had 42,000 in 14 years of life. AND in 14 years the only money spent on it was for a new battery, set of tires and a right indicator bulb. Never failed a MOT. Regreted ever getting rid of her. Then 2006 VW passat (worse car EVER) and am waiting to pick up new new Kia proceed 4 at the end of next week

Fiat Strada. Bought from my brother in-law. When it rained the sunroof leaked and I used to have an inch of water in the footwells. When I slamed the boot then about 2 seconds later I used to hear the trickle of rust hitting the floor. I had to construct a make shift lock which was piece of metal screwed to the door frame to hold the door shut which then involved me reaching out of the window to twist the piece of metal for the door to open. Also the car used to brake down on the motorway, I would have to pull onto the hard sholder, let it cool for a few mins and then drive off until the next time it would happen. They don't make em like they used to. Great days

Oh well.. I don't have a first car yet. I just use my dad's. But I did bought a car with my friends to build a boogie. It was a 1983 Fiat 128. Bought epically cheap, there's a thread somewhere of the Buggy.
Come back 747, we miss you!!

My grandma´s Peugeot 205, 1986, 65hp, 180.000km, 12 years old. Not a great car by any means but very confortable and reliable, not a single failure despite how old it was.

I still can´t belive the clutch resisted, my grandma used to start in 2nd gear even on uphills, I always tought it was going to fail at any moment, but it didn´t!

1999 Ford Ka, 34000 miles, 4 new clutches with the fifth one on its way out.
Apart from the fact you couldn't go anywhere near the throttle without burning the clutch it was a great car.
Go-kart like steering and a fantastic ride.
Unfortunately had to scrap it because of terminal rust.
