Mclaren MP4-29H

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

According to Boullier it was actually a problem in the McLaren battery.

Interesting, when they first tested/ran the new front wing they did so with new front wing mounting pylons. The new pylons have a shorter and more constant chord. Now during the test it appears that they are running the new wing with the older wing mounting pylons from the older wing.

Can't tell if they are running the new under nose turning vanes or not.

Apperently they are testing aero too. As mentioned, the new turning vanes are there and the new wing is spotted too.

Yeah, it was mentioned by Dennis http://www.f1technical.net/news/19825
"The Silverstone test was a systems check. Next week we'll run a comparison test to see which way we can develop. Forget the laptimes, they won't be relevant, but we'll be able to establish a base understanding of the mechanics, while we will also be doing some aerodynamic checks. Again, it's a proof of concept, we're not aiming outright performance."

Looks like the cooling package is really not optimised so I guess that in the 30 they are planning to go for a different direction than in the 29.

They're probably also being uber-cautious so that they don't have to worry about overheating at all.

Mods, I know it's been asked before, but any chance this thread could be pinned like the other car threads so that it appears towards the top of the page - it seems to me that it's probably going to be one of the busier threads during this test session...
Favourite driver: Lando Norris
Favourite team: McLaren

Turned down the chance to meet Vettel at Silverstone in 2007. He was a test driver at the time and I didn't think it was worth queuing!! 🤦🏻‍♂️

Done. I will however unsticky it after the test.

Just like where the last McLaren-Honda Turbo had it's radiator exits... Now for some red-white livery and some snorkels on the side pods and they're ready for 2015!
