F1 comparing corner/sector times (2014 ánd 2015)

Post

Since a couple of years I roam this forum and this week I finally made my first post.
The user Blanchimont asked me in a topic to compare the sector or corner times between the teams and drivers. So I thought to give it a try!

So if you have data of corner and section times you can post it here. It can be from every season you got

I've made start of the Parabolica at Monza Q3 2014, I looked up the data from Merc, Ferrari and Red Bull at their fastest lap in Q3. Kimi did not make it into Q3 so I didn't looked up his data:

Imagesource: Mobile F1 App

I think I will regularly update this when the new season starts. But getting the data from the 2014 races is a bit time consuming. But if you have a request I can have a look for you..

That's great, thanks a lot. Could you maybe add a list of which corners are available through the app? Does the app also tell you where exactly the entry, apex and exit line is placed on the circuit?
Dear FIA, if you read this, please pm me for a redesign of the Technical Regulations to avoid finger nose shapes for 2016! :-)

Turn 4 at Catalunya. Everyone was on a hot lap at the end of Q3 except Kimi and Grosjean. Probable bug with the Lotus...

Interesting, the top post made me think that it wasn't downforce, but instead acceleration that was doing it for Merc. This makes it clearer that they're maintaining a higher apex speed, and that's what's doing it.

What's really surprising is that the Williams' are right up there with RedBull on apex speed. Even for them it's not pure engine grunt.

I think you can really see as well that the Ferrari really wasn't that bad aereodynamically as in Alonso's hands it was right up there.

Red Bull ran deliberately with less downforce then they could, which harmed their apex speed.

In Monza I seem to recall only Vettel opting for the low downforce. The difference in wing between him and Ricciardo was obvious.

Visually it looks like same setups for both.

can´t believe i missed this one, some brilliant pictures you got there.

But could you please do Singapore or Monaco? Everyone runs full on DF there so we will get a true picture of the Red Bull vs Mercedes.

I don't recall there being any graphics for those venues. No proper high speed stretches to measure.

I will have a look this weekend. On average there are 2 or 3 corners per circuit where you can see the information like in the screenshots above

Alright, here a list of available corners in the app. I will update this post as soon as I looked up the other circuits.
Some are a combination of corners. I have added the little map as shown in the app, the begin of the green is the entry, the end of the green part is the exit. The apex is a bit hard to visualize. But as soon as I will look up the time of the corners you will get the picture.

I just got the update of the new F1 app, I didnt purchase the season license yet but as soon as I have I will try to update this topic after every race.

Too bad the update does not allow you to view the 2014 data anymore..

Here are the best sectors times from FP1, I need to find out the new options in the app, but I also think I can manage to look up the entry, apex en exit speeds in some corners. More to come!

The gap between HAM and ROS is just insane.

Just to put in perspective... they´re completing a stretch of 5,3 kilometers.....
