Wow, things really couldn't go much better for Hamilton at the moment (ignoring BBW issues).

He stands on the top of the podium, and meanwhile Vettel, Raikonnen and Rosberg all take points off each other. Every race, a different order, and the gap in points only extends.

Indeed. Kimi is still the master of tyre preservation. And F1 is again all about tyre saving. That is what holds Merc back. In raw pace they could easily fly away. But the tyres won't take it.

It was a brake failure on both Mercedes cars, knowing that it's not gonna damage his confidence too much. Nico would have held onto second otherwise.

That wasn't a mistake - that was a brake by wire failure.
