Track limits farce by Charlie Whiting continues:
"During the race, any driver who appears to have gained a clear and lasting advantage by leaving the track at turn 9, or who repeatedly leaves the track at this corner, will be reported to the stewards."

That was exactly the same rule as last season (only difference - two corners named) and look what happened with Vettel, repeatedly (6 times no less, and couple more close ones), clear and lasting advantage (including overtake and off track on overtake lap) and you did nothing. Whiting is a good example of keeping his job by giving presents to the right people.

Edit: Oh and there's zero tolerance in Q, which means we can't check which driver/team did it and adjust our reaction, usually it's "selected tolerance", thanks for clearing that up.

We had some big lightning storms last night - not sure how much rain fell at Silverstone but it might have made the track a little greener before FP3 this morning.

Forecast currently suggests possibility of showers in the last half of the race. Temperatures won't be anything special.

I was working in Watford last night and according to our guys outside the storms were going straight up North from the coast, and we had loads of rain, the roads were still flooded at 4.30am.

Hamilton really has turned it around in qualifying this year. Putting in the lap the first time instead of needing a second lap to do it.

Disappointing Ferrari beaten fair and square by a great Williams. Also disappointing McLaren but that was expected..

..which maybe means it wasn't about tyre claim not backed up with anything? Although Rosberg thought something was weird with his car/tyre.

- Nice, Massa outqualifying two quicker Ferraris (yes, they were quicker) and Bottas, although time difference was negligible it was A. in high speed stuff and B. when they were close to other team, some competition and challenge shows the pattern. It was the same when they were the closest to Merc in '14: Monza, Austria, Interlagos
- Ricciardo slower even than Kvyat. I changed my mind he might be a better fit for Ferrari. Judging by the recent two examples it's a team where you fail upwards and driving badly (2x2014 season) ups your chances.
- New Senna is nowhere again in an excellent car (on this track and in general) but that part will be ignored. More lightweight FP and talking needed.

The race pace is much different than qualifying, no one is going to get into the 33's in the race. Most teams will run no faster than 35-36, and will average lap times in the 38's-high 37's
