Or small air pockets that weren't properly pushed out, then got much bigger from the heat expansion - hence the marks where someone has tried to pop them with a knife

The nose has just a bit of the FW26 Walrus Tusk in it. That car turned into a winner once they ditched the Walrus nose, so maybe it bodes well for FW38 being a winner with the near-mythical updated/short nose!!

And finally a bit of pace today. I know any runs today are still light years from Aussie qualifying, but at least something decent. Does anyone know if the Bottas/Williams time today was set on the same "soft" compound used by Rosberg/Mercedes?

Bottas' fastest time was on Ultra-softs.

So if they are doing qualy simulations (as stated in daily press release, see team thread for more detail) and they used ultra soft, then they have probably chosen ultra-softs for Australia.

Bottas did 1:23.572 I think on soft tires.
