Better than the drivers being dead to everyone, no?

I agree it's not a refined design but also think saving lives is worthwhile so I get it (albeit i think are more lateral thinking solutions). Sorry for the OT

please, stop with this stupid idea who want F1 drivers are "dead alive" behind her cockpit...

when a driver is dead in F1 ? 94 !

who think Bianchi can escape to the death with this system is a dreamer...

I don't think this device would have saved Bianchi, it would have been ripped off or been crushed against the driver's head.

Formula is going to hell. Since 2009. We are currently in 7th circle of hell. I mean what they are doing is just embarrasing and hummiliating.

rated negatively for insulting ? "stupid idea" is insulting ? the idea is stupid, not the person...

Red Bull to test alternative 'Batmobile' Halo
http://www.motorsport.com/ wrote: Red Bull plans to test an alternative 'Batmobile-style' version of a Halo closed cockpit system on a Formula 1 car next month, Motorsport.com can reveal.
(...)
Team principal Christian Horner told Motorsport.com: "We are aiming to run it on a show car. It won't be a grand prix weekend, but will be a test environment.

"It is a more of a canopy – open topped. So is effectively like a bigger windscreen.

"It is more elegant and hopefully offers better visibility. So let's see what the FIA think of it."

When asked about the downsides of debris or fluids obscuring the screen, Horner said: "Other formulas such as sportscars appear to cope with a screen okay, so it should not be a major issue."

Probably better off just putting a windscreen under the cross bar instead of that central pillar methinks.

Ah! this I think will be better than the Halo.

I, too, think the Red Bull System sounds like the better Solution.

Some poor designer has sat at a computer screen for weeks coming up with that shape; a man probably led a team to scientifically work it all out. After hours and hours and hours of graft their work finally comes to fruition, with all the excitement of it actually being tested on a real life Formula 1 car and seeing what an actual driver thinks of it.

And the feedback they finally receive... Kimi saying it was "okay".

I love Kimi.

I dislike how it looks though. The world's most advanced motorsport which spends more on R&D than most other sports combined should be able to come up with a more elegant solution.

I'm all for safer F1 cars, but even Ferrari's halo solution wouldn't have prevented a Massa/spring type injury.. Let's hope RedBull's solution is more "elegant." Really don't want to see the aesthetics of F1 "ruined" any further.

Definitely NOT a improvement to the car aesthetics, neither a perfect solution for safety...But certainly, the final shape of this halo will be improved to become more aerodynamic...So maybe I could get used to it while a better solution don't came up.
