Now what they need to do is take advantage of the upper horizontal member and place a 50mm high wrap around LCD screen giving a 180deg rearward view to address the lateral and rearward visibility problems they've had since implementing the high cockpit sides.

Looks far better indeed! =D>
The only thing missing is a picture of the entire car with the windshield in order to see how the car looks overall.

That official RedBull Proposal is by far the Best we've seen yet.

I bet we still get the halo, against everyone's better judgement. Call it quali-logic ... there's nothing the FIA like better than grabbing at the first "solution" that is dangled in front of them (no matter how many people point out the fundamental flaws).

What I don't understand is why did it take someone so long to produce a proposal this basic? Surely a structurally sound windscreen isn't rocket science ...

RedBull's proposal please. But the idiots who run the thing lack even the slightest common sense so it won't happen.

It looks like we are getting the Halo after all.

Here is an exerpt of an interview with Charlie Whiting found here

http://www.fia.com/news/fia-race-direct ... transcript
Q: Charlie, just to take you back to Halo. When you mentioned the Red Bull concept, are we at the stage now where the current concept will come in regardless of whether developments over this year suggest there are better ones and we just want to get one in as quick as possible and then refine it or would we delay in 2017 if a better one was emerging and investigate that further before going with a final solution?

CW: I don’t think we would delay if another one was emerging, as you put it. We are on a course for the Halo as that has been tested thoroughly and we feel that it offers the best all-round protection. We do have, as I said earlier, a thorough risk assessment to on a number of different accident scenarios. We want to make sure we are not going to make things worse in certain circumstances, so that has to be done. But I don’t think we would delay it because we felt there was another better one coming.my emphasis

Was it not Charlie Whiting that suggested the qualifying format change? Yeah enough said IMO.

Hopefully andrewf1 can make some adjustments to this one
and we can get an idea of what the Mercedes would look like with the red bull concept
As requested :) I can't vouch for the accuracy of the model, but it's roughly similar in proportions to the Red Bull proposal.

The t-cam view looks much better compared to the Halo. Mirrors are also well visible from within the cockpit.

I'd sooner see nothing, but that's out of my hands, and seeing as they're dead set on having a halo type device
on the cars, I would rather see this type, don't know if it provides less safety then the Ferrari one ??

Thanks Andrew, the photos look great

I don't see the Red Bull Windshield concept becoming a reality until a suitable cleaning system is designed.

Either a wiper or self cleaning system which works to the tests prescribed by FIA this will not see the light of day.

If Red Bull test the new system with a cleaning system then there is more of a chance.

Yeah, & I'd be more concerned about the needlessly large/intrusive view-blocking windscreen pillars..
