Looks like engine problems for Rosberg, was in "limp home mode" not sure how serious. Maybe driving around and around in testing actually means nothing.

Any word on what it was? I missed fp1 working in the shop.

it was at the very end of FP1.... i was watching the NBC stream with no commentary so there was no explanation just the radio convo between Rosberg and the pit wall. He was asking if he was allowed to shift because the car was in limp home mode(he was going very slowly) the response from the pit wall was that he was allowed to shift and that it was an engine problem.

Magnussen possible brake or suspension failure.
He was warned of brake problems shortly before his tyre let go.

@Vasconia: No Tire issue. Williams had 2 issues with the Rims and Magnussen destroyed his Tire on a Piece of Debris.

If he is running extra DF, he will be able to follow closer entering the back strait, and then be able to better utilize DRS.

Theory is easy, but reality is another thing. He could have problems than you expect is the top speed of these cars is much better.

Call it what you will, but its a valid set-up that has been used to good effect on this track before.

I'm shocked Ferrari turned the car up to 11, if they aren't careful they might damage another motor.

Who says they have turned it to 11? I agree that, with the issues they've had, it's unlikely.

Pace only 3 tenths quicker than p2 last year though. I suspect they're getting less pay back from having softer tyres here - they're essentially too soft for a track like this and don't last the full lap (e.g. Kimi's final sector/Vettel's first).

Also both teams probably taking it easy on the PU given potential issues.

Vettel 322, Rosberg i think 320 (no idea bout Hamilton).

I think nobody was running full power.
