Is there a chance of Mclaren intentionally messing with the car just to humiliate Honda at their home a bit more hoping to spur them on to improve even more?

"Boulier Bouls*it."
Honda is tolerating Boulier for now because they know the PU is not the best on the grid.
This guy would've been kicked out of the team long ago if it were Renault instead of Honda.

Not sure why Boulier is there, dennis runs the whole circus anyway.
Never Give up.

Honda pays their bills...so I doubt that anyone at McLaren has the aim to mess with Honda.

So there we have it, both chassis & PU are not up to the task.... well lets focus on the race tomorrow and on 2017 [-o<
True, both are mediocre. Perhaps they will be good in 2017 but I am afraid that the improvement wont be enough to fight for the victories.
Correct, but I just want to focus more on the positives instead of the negatives and hope for the best in the future

Last year they were in the same positions in japan, yet looking mighty racy in Austin. Let's hope the same thing happens this year, just without the over optimism and pessimism

Every time McLaren do bad 'we told you so!! Chassis is real bad!! Engine is even worse!!!'

Every time they do good 'chassis is the fastest!!!! Engine is improving!!!'

Truth is, engine is some way behind Renault. Chassis is at best 4th fastest, at worst 6th fastest with tyre issues which make it even slower
Finally someone with clear mind and a solid measure of objectivity.
If i would get the money to start my own F1 team, i would revive Arrows

Unlike what most say Suzuka is a very much Power circuit. This is why Ferrari is in front RB and this is why Haas is infront of Mclaren(that doesnt justify Mclaren chassis problem).

Anyway here is how Mclaren compares to the Merc.

Yes, I was thinking the same. But I absolutely hate it when people over react

One off bad weekends are the worst. 'OMG the world's gonna end!!'

I think that they have made huge improvements in the engine since last year and the chassis is coming along too, although still far behind. That with all the restrictions in engine development is pretty good. They need something special on both fronts next year to get consistent podiums

Thanks. It's best to look at the season as a whole then over react at a bad weekend

So, does that mean that the 2016 Honda PU is worse than the 2015 Ferrari PU? Or is the Torro Rosso chassis superior to the McLaren chassis? Or both????

That video is heart-breaking to watch

Alonso's video starts earlier and he crosses the line to start the lap first. That difference in time is made up by Rosberg in the first two turns alone...

McLaren looks a handful, doesn't turn ,doesn't accelerate, doesn't brake. Absolute handful

The only bit of optimism I can pull out of this is that perhaps the balance will come towards them on heavy fuel tomorrow, but I'm really just plucking at straws here. This weekend is gonna be hard

Another thing I might add: In the race sim runs they were probably running the engine in a less aggressive deployment setting because its genuinely harder to harvest here. There are only 2 real big stops, one being at the hairpin and one at the final chicane, the rest of the lap is mostly full throttle. But at tracks like Malaysia there are more stops and therefore in the race more energy can be harvested and therefore more deployed and therefore the engine can be run slightly more aggressively. And japan is more of a power track than I thought

This is what I was talking about earlier. Over reaction at a bad weekend.

Look at the rest of the season and you'll find your answer.

Or I'll answer for you. There is a whole lot more that goes into a fast lap than chassis and PU.

Not an overreaction at all. I simply asked 3 questions. Thanks for your answer though.
FWIW - I don't think there's much between TR & McLaren in performance terms over the season so far.

Before you cast the first stone remember that Ferari has out qualified RBR. does that mean yhey have a better chassis?

Ok I can do the same. Does Haas have a better chassis than Williams or is the Ferrari Pu better than the Merc Pu? Or both?

It's easy to throw questions after an odd result. That's what I meant by over reaction. Maybe it wasn't the right word.

U wrote youre comment like STR was 3 seconds faster in Suzuka, and that they have 100 points more than the Mclaren.
