Red Bull RB13 TAG Heuer

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

A little bit of flex there, interesting that it´s only the bottom part flexing.

Interesting that the inlet seems to be about twice the cross section compared to the exit. I haven't seen the inlet for the S-Duct either.
Could it be that they direct half of the airflow to the S-Duct and half under the nose?
Would also be interesting how the area counts with regard to the nose regulation's prescribed cross sections. Does it count as if it was solid? In that case it would be really a clever way to 'raise the nose'.

The top picture is at the apex of what looks to be a sharp left handed turn, with a right hander coming up, so maybe turn 14. the bottom picture looks to be the main strait (grid box).

The car is under drastically different loads between those two point on the track.

How the rake changes even with DRS enabled

Could only be loaded vs unloaded suspension. Both shots should be taken at the same point on the track, otherwise not very relevant.

Even with DRS open the car would still produce a lot of downforce from it's diffuser, thus sucking it into the ground, though it does look rather odd how much squat it has compared to regular stance.

this looks complete insane, with drs open, not to mention the fw angle, i remember in previous interviews with tech personel, i think it was brawn that said potential gain from bringing the fw mainplane closer to the ground was insane,
add to that if this makes the diffuser to stall :wtf: , then no --- it was posted today the rb reached 330 at the end of the straight which was the highest top speed meassured today. when they can do this with the car... but im sure the first teams are already looking into this to complain

Great. Now I'll see this image every time I see the nose.

Yes, that's what I'm trying to point out. We're seeing compression from high speed downforce. That the DRS is open implies high speeds. Even if we could blame the squat on acceleration, it would not be happening mid straight with the DRS open.

The cars carry rake static, regardless. The rear of the car is squatting under high downforce load mid-straight.

A double DRS loophole? Somehow? - I told you they look extremely slick. This is Red Bull doing the opposite of everybody else's expectations. Who would have guessed Red Bull topping the speed trap list? Looks very interesting.

with DRS open the rear should move upwards
Finishing races is important, but racing is more important.

The floors are much more powerful this year! Not to mention you have no idea if the car just hit a bump or anything like that.

What's with the secondary fw elements curling upwards instead of downwards? Has that been done before? Seems like it would have a big impact on the vortex.

This is very, very interesting and is unlike anything I have seen before.
