22 laps and counting. More laps than anyone bar Mercedes and toro rosso. Good start to the day I guess

I was the one tempering the pessimism yesterday, so I will do so for the positivism today as well. It is holding up for now, which is good. But remember that these engines need to last 5 race weekends at the least. Around 120 laps each race weekend, makes that 600 laps. Average 5km a lap means 3000km.

At the end of the week we can form a better opinion on this. Important for now is mileage on a single engine.

Considering the problems Renault are having and Sauber with last years proven pu, and given its a completely new Honda engine conceptually, I'd say they're doing alright-ish. Although if something happens like this tomorrow and they lose as much running as they lost yesterday I would probably allow myself to worry

"Completely new engine" is not an acceptable excuse really. What does that mean, that they are starting from scratch and we can expect another 2-3 years of "building up"?

They need results, now. They booted Ron Dennis out over this, if they don't turn things around this year they are going to look very very silly. There's no chance of Alonso sticking around if the car isn't capable of getting on the podium.

This is what testing is about. Don't get too discouraged yet. Last year they were like this and ended up being midfield. Anything can happen yet.

I think that Honda is being very transparent and giving us everything we want to know. They've told us exactly whats wrong, when they're changing the engine, which which one they're changing it with... Etc etc. Haven't heard a single peep from Renault about their problems, nor Sauber. Force India had some exhaust issues yesterday and red bull have just about reached McLarens lap tally. Maybe if Honda just kept quiet, perhaps it would seem more 'normal' (like it does with other teams when they have issues) and less 'OMG the world's gonna end'

tbh all that Time lost on Setup and Aero Work will hurt them all Season. It's getting annoying.
