That qualifying was intense. And i am talking about the midfield here.

Wheirlein embarassing ericson. I guess giovinazzi wasnt that good as we thought and why monisha want pascal back in as quickly as possible.

Even Palmer's best ever quali result is quite average. Hulk is three steps above. Spliyting the bulls. We saw romain telling his engineer that he feels the Haas is faster in the race.. So seems Renault is more of a one lap pony.

Ferrari may not be setup for the cool temperatures but they are faster in the race. I am not ruling out a Ferrari win.

Congrats to Bottas on his first pole position. He really deserved it. This is not a Hamilton track. Nico used to beat him alot here so i am not too vexed.

A power track and Ferrari is half a second behind the Mercedes!!! Doesn't look like Ferrari upgrade delivered anything OR is this a case of upgrades taking them backwards?

Well, after the Friday long runs, it appeared that Ferrari is trailing by half a second to me, but I wasn't too sure to read a lot into those times! But that was true!!!

Oh what kind of cars have we got? Half a second faster than last year???

Or maybe they are using detuned (safer) engine settings after the issues they had yesterday?

So the lap record has been broken then? Wasn't it Pedro de la Rosa's record a 1.31.xx that was the lap record?

Are there lap times splitted in sectors available?

Ferrari underperforming aside, the grid is a lot more tight around here for whatever reason.
Renault one second from Mercedes and just .3 behind Red Bull

Even when he gets into Q3 Palmer still 1.2s off the pace of his team mate and the actual pace of the car.

Ferrari possibly no longer threatening the infamous Merc front row lockout were all used to.

Kimis pace that of the speedless Red Bulls.......

Great job by Wehrlein to qualify 13th in the Sauber ahead of the other Mercedes junior Seb Ocon and more than half a second faster than his teammate Ericsson.

Don't you mean 1 whole second ahead?

Indeed. In a car that he hasn't even fully tested.
