Scuderia Ferrari SF70H

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

How can air go so vertical so quick. This can not provide that much of a downforce as it is providing additional drag. Or are those vertical flaps just creating low pressure zone so that lower flaps can work harder?
The drag is the low pressure area directly behind those flip-ups, which in turn help extract the air from the diffusor, which creates very efficient downforce, so the sacrifice is well worth it.

The air there is likely to be pretty turbulent anyway so any drag increase is probably negligible.
If you are more fortunate than others, build a larger table not a taller fence.

It's going sideways, not vertical... The upper elements give it away. The lower elements are used to direct it as much as possible in a way beneficial for extracting a bit more air out of diffuser and therefore extracting downforce (as was already said)...
And they call it a stall. A STALL!

Turbos changed again. Anyone know what is the problem with them? Other than Kimi's one being on fire in Bahrain practice, I didn't see any mention of TC issues.

and it mentions Grosjean had turbo damage in Melbourne? I thought it was just a coolant leak?

That's the only thing that I found about TC change: they said that this new TC is slightly different and should be more reliable (the precedent version had some problems with high temperature in Bahrain), so now they will use the older spec for FP1/2/3 and the newer for qualy and race.

On Sky F1's coverage it was mentioned that Ferrari have stated that this is normal season rotation, and teh other 2 turbos remain available for use later in the season.

Are there 2 "puddles" on the floor now?

The "old" one near the rear tires and another one in the undercut.
Very interesting use of materials.

I think its more like a different weave of carbon fiber rather than a "puddle". See this pic:

Still interesting as to why they would use a different material construction for that area specifically...
