Scuderia Ferrari SF70H

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

According to f1analisitechnica.com "The cooling ducts in the two ears are fed freshly with the Energy Recovery System radiator, which has undergone an important layout (and typology) modification, and has allowed the Italian team engineers to redistribute the weight in the back of the car."

This new flap in front of the barge boards seems to be going more forward than on all the other cars. Loophole?

Which mid wing do you mean? The black one behind the roll hoop camera?

If you look closely you'll see it changes the direction of where it sends the airflow. Upper part of it is just another flap in those barge boards, with a slot energizing the boundary layer on the inner side to keep it attached. Then in the middle it start going outboard, to send the lower layers of airflow coming under the nose outboard and towards those many slots and leading edges creating a bit of downforce. Basically, it brings more clean and high energy airflow exactly where it's needed. Almost text-book stuff really :D

Does Ferrari have the gearbox splitted in two "skins" like Mercedes with the internal one the only which cannot be changed before having completed 6 races and the external one that to which suspensions arms are attacked?
