Rules dictate 60% models, so they don't need big tunnels anymore like the one shown here.
A most welcome return. The gear they produced for Ferrari in the late 90's was awesomeMorteza wrote: ↑06 Feb 2018, 10:10So they replaced Hugo Boss (who are now with Formula E) with Tommy Hilfiger

This sounds quite loud, im guessing its because no bodywork ontop and in enclosed space but would be nice if they were slightly louder.TAG wrote: ↑05 Feb 2018, 15:35as I slowly awake from the off season slumber, looks like Mercedes is doing the same.

Pretty much. However I think they need to replace the microphones that FOM use to get the cars sounds transmitted better across broadcast.F1Fan2018 wrote: ↑06 Feb 2018, 14:02This sounds quite loud, im guessing its because no bodywork ontop and in enclosed space but would be nice if they were slightly louder.TAG wrote: ↑05 Feb 2018, 15:35as I slowly awake from the off season slumber, looks like Mercedes is doing the same.

On the subject of sound I would like if along with the engine sound they located mics close to the wheels so we could hear more slipped and lock ups like in forumla e (might be loud due to lack of engine noise I know) even just for replying incidentsdigitalrurouni wrote:Pretty much. These engines register something like 110db don't they? Something that loud in any sort of confined space is deafening. Like being in a bedroom with Metallica playing a set five feet away loud.F1Fan2018 wrote: ↑06 Feb 2018, 14:02This sounds quite loud, im guessing its because no bodywork ontop and in enclosed space but would be nice if they were slightly louder.TAG wrote: ↑05 Feb 2018, 15:35as I slowly awake from the off season slumber, looks like Mercedes is doing the same.

Plus, worst case scenario I bet they have a backup supply of 2017 spec PU's they could fall back on....at least for the works team.Just_a_fan wrote: ↑08 Jan 2018, 20:00I think their idea of "all new" and ours might be different. This won't be a clean sheet of paper design but a development from last year's unit that incorporates lots of little changes, all of which mean the unit is "new" compared to last year's.
Interesting that he talks about there being lots of 5 millisecond gains to be found. 5 milliseconds!
