I was thinking that Mercedes must have lowered the position of there exhaust manifolds, because there is simply no other way the have shrunk that part of the cars sidepod. It also explains why the bottom of the sidepod at that point, perhaps isn't as tight as the W08.

The only thing stabilizing those front wheels is the tie rods. They have to be extra bulky for that task taking those side loads, but it should more force feedback for the driver!

Considering how complex and intricate those little crazy 3d winglets around the barge boards, how fragile must they be? Could they withstand a ramp over debris? And imagine little pieces sticking inside the serrations how much performance could they lose?

Seems like Mercedes PU has a much higher pitch and some rambling noises under acceleration. Ferrari seems smoother.

Potentially. I think Merc has figured out a better way of forcing oil up into the combustion chamber and Ferrari were using the breather in the intake.

That's my guess anyway. Merc still smoking the same amount as usual and they can still burn oil, just less of it.
