When i see pics like this, i ask my self, what is possible with this car and reglement with todays technic and know how.
though i am very fond of classic cars in their full original glory,
i am just as much 'mesmerized' when classic cars get 'retromodded', and given modern treatments.
I've seen for example 2nd Gen f-body GM cars (yes, mainly Pontiac Firebird [transam]) getting a treatment where the body is 80% replaced with 100% carbon fiber parts (not cheap), modern independant suspension systems, modern brakes, modern day v8's with electronics and upgrades, 6-speed manual transmissions, modern comfortable seats, gps and navigation and audio, and decent isolation etc, and sticky fat tires. it's mind boggling what improvement this brings and just how much faster it makes these cars go.
but the amount of money thrown into such is imho not reasonable, as in a lot of these situations, you can buy very-low-mileage second hand lamborghinis, porsches, maseratis, aston martins, etc.
and i think tech knowhow of today also shows that the design of these porsche 962s are not 'optimal' or 'utlimate' aerowise, and you end up with being much better off with LMP1 prototype bodies of today. after all - these 962 are also far from 'as safe' as todays LMP1 cars are.
