No way Haas or FI are 4th. Renault and Mclaren are back to business and they ll be 4th and 5th.
Merc might be a clear number 1 but I'm not not sure yet :P
I expect FI to be in the mix for 4th, along with Haas, Renault, and Mclaren. It'll be a tight fight. I think TR will bring up the rear of this group. Williams will struggle, and Sauber will bring up the rear. Leclerc will manage points in Monaco.

I expect there will be a second or more to the midfield teams.

It's very unlikely dren. Haas for example seemd to be as fast/faster than other teams, simply because they did their race sim in better conditions, 24 or 48 hours after those teams : )
Mclaren and especially Renault hade a good amount of fuel in they fastest lap.

I was looking at the stints. I think Haas will be in good shape. Maybe they'll be behind Renault/Mclaren, we'll see!

Haas started really well last year, clear 4th best and nearly half a second clear of Williams so it shouldn't be a surprise if they do it again in Melbourne.

But no chance they stay there though throughout the year. Renault,McLaren and Force India will out-develop them easily during the year and depending on Honda upgrade and how the drivers fair maybe STR can get past too. Williams should also but drivers are a question mark and car reports weren't flattering.

I certainly believe Mercs will start with Tyre issue with softer compounds and gradually set into the season.

Everyone downplaying Ferrari just seeing the Race Pace data of testing(Thanks to all negative news from British media). Ferrari are sure to spring a surprise.

Ferrari - Merc
0.3 sec
Redbull
0.3 sec
Mclaren
Renault
Haas
1.0 sec
FI/TR/Alfa
1.5 sec + 0.5 sec (for drivers) = 2sec
Williams

1. Mercedes | Pretty sure their PU will still give them an edge, but not as much as last year.
2. Red Bull | Red Bull / Ferrari may be close.
3. Ferrari
5. Renault | Surprise! I think they have done their homework.
4. Haas
6. Toro Rosso | Surprise, may even be further up. I think they have a good package and Honda will surprise aswell.
7. McLaren | May even be further down. They obviously have issues.
8. Force India
9. Williams
10. Sauber

One thing I didn't know was that Magnussen's best lap was set on a 9 lap stint, which makes me even more comfortable in the assumption that Haas will be able to take the fight to McLaren and Renault, at least for a while.

I still expect them each to be about 1 second off the pace come Australia, though.

Really? On what grounds do you base that opinion (I hope you get that this can only be an opinion not facts)?

Another question: Do you think that Ferrari would win over Mercedes if we swapped the drivers of both teams?
Ferrari would not be as competitive if Vettel wasn't blessed with a cuckold teammate.

This thread has outlived its purpose.
If Ferrari had a better second driver they would be less competitive?
So you say if Alonso or Verstappen or Ricciardo was in the 2nd Ferrari, they wouldn't get better results than Kimi did?
Nevermind mate. I missed the question mark. Sorry about that
