But seriously, what in the flying f*** were ferrari thinking :?:
They got held for Perez in the pits. Without that they are behind Bottas of far fresher tyres.
They were never going to catch bottas, new tires or not. Dumb move.

The only reason to pit Vettel again would be that his tires were giving up. His times were stable though.

Track position matters more than any other circuit. I wouldn't call that a rational call either.

I wonder how many of Mercs upgrades are performing great
The Mercedes upgrade on the tire seems to work great!

It was a rational call. Just terrible luck this time.
It wasn't a rational call. They basically conceded position to bottas even without being held up in the pits.
It was rational in the sense Restomaniac just said - it was a cheap pitstop, why not take it and get fresh tyres to attack with?

was there some discussion about the chicane before the last right before the start-finish? seems to slow down the cars a lot before that right hander into the straight, if it wasn't there, the drs might play a bigger role, seems that with these cars there simply is no way to pass anyone here...

It depends. On SkyF1 Horner had already hinted that the Ferrari soft tyres looked in a mess. Maybe Vettel’s Meds wouldn’t have made the end of the race so they took the chance when it appeared.

That's a long shot. Either way, they lose nothing if they stay out.

Don't understand Ric. He's miles behind and putting in new lap record laps. Why is he so far back from Ver/Vet? Did I miss something?
If you are more fortunate than others, build a larger table not a taller fence.

They do if Vettel hits the cliff and he has to pit at full speeds.

He was stuck behind one of the williams under VSC who was driving way too slowly, but you're not allowed to overtake under VSC, so that's that.
