Should STR look at Nakijima for 2019?

Post

He was very young when he was with Williams the first time around,
and his LeMans win looked very good.

Any thoughts about him coming back to F1?

STR already have a Le Mans winner. It's not working that well for them...

I always liked him, but steady rather than spectacular. Also, getting on a bot for F1

Japanese driver in a car powered by Honda was a big thing for them before.

Except he’s a Toyota driver... wasn’t his Williams back then powered by a Lexus/Toyota?

I'm sure there is a desire from Honda to have a Japanese driver on the grid, but I don't think they'd demand it.
Better to wait for the appropriate time and and put a solid Japanese rookie in once he has earned it.

As for Toro Rosso, a return of Sainz would be the best for the team. They need a good year where they aren't handicapped by a late engine manufacturer change or a mediocre driver line-up.

Ain't gonna happen, but I would love to see Button back for a year. Even if it was slotted in with his sport driving

I would prefer André Lotterer but he has been hung out to dry this season. A bit old but his speed and aggressive driving style would be a good fit in F1.

In a word - no.

Being good in Sports Cars or Endurance doesn't equate to being good in F1. Just ask Hartley and Weirlein...
Favourite driver: Lando Norris
Favourite team: McLaren

Turned down the chance to meet Vettel at Silverstone in 2007. He was a test driver at the time and I didn't think it was worth queuing!! 🤦🏻‍♂️

Totally agree. It's been born out many times. Totally different styles of driving.

A lot of guys who've been unbeatable in other series have come to F1 and had proper facepalm moments. The level up is considerable.. Alonso just didn't rock up and win the damn thing. It shows the sheer talent the man (and the drivers that drive in the F1 series) possess/possesses. To be honest, I try not to be rude and I hope I'm not being offensive to anyone here but such topics wouldn't even arise had Alonso not won and put so much limelight and focus on the event and win. All respect to KN, but he had his chance and he was absolutely pasted by Rosberg.

Nakajima was quick in qualifying but his race pace and race craft was pretty awful. He had his chance.
