I think Silverstone is the only other track where the modified tires will be used.

I can't provide you with facts. None of us can.
There are two options: Either you think that Mercedes' massive performance jumps in Barcelona and Paul Ricard were up to their upgrades or you think that it mainly were the tyres. Lewis' pole time in France was 4 tenths faster than Vettel's and Lewis could have been even faster for about 3 tenths. Do you think that Mercedes would be 7 tenths faster than Ferrari on pure performance?
This has got to be a joke. So, its all about Vettel and Ferrari, whereas there are 10 teams and 20 cars on the grid?
Come on, this is trolling.
Vettel was the fastest driver after the two Mercedes drivers. And he is the biggest and hardest contender of Lewis. Of course I'm gonna mention him.
Strange that you mention him but seem to be totally ignoring the fact that Vettel himself debunked the whole idea. :wtf:

I see. Out of twenty cars, you compare just two and make conclusions that defy logic. Two cars out of twenty is a meagre 10 percent of the data. Of course other "minor" matters don't count too; things like, car setup, inherent characteristics, driver idiosyncrasies, luck, motivation, hard evidence from the last Pirelli test etc.

Removing Merc and Ferrari, were the other 8 teams running around on something other than the same tyres, perhaps like Fred Flintsone and the other fortunate drivers in Bedrock do?

Please, lets move on from this and talk Austria.
Let's talk about the other cars then. I don't see any difference when I look at the qualifying times. The top teams were more than a second faster than the rest, as usual. If there was a team in midfield which managed to be faster on the special tyres than on the normal ones, good for them. But I don't understand what kind of an effect this would have on the top teams? If you accuse me of trying to tell that those tyres were specially created to suit Mercedes then you're wrong. What I mean is that Mercedes obviously seems to be quite comfortable on them and I come to this conclusion by comparing their performance on the normal tyres with the one on the special tyres. Both times Ferrari and RBR weren't even close to be challenging Mercedes even though on every other race weekend Mercedes had a really hard time.
It could very well be that it was only due to upgrades or whatever Mercedes brought. It would be interesting coincidences, though.

I don't ignore it. Ferrari struggling does not change the fact that Mercedes seems to be more comfortable on those tyres than on the usual ones.

Then Explain Australia, where Mercedes has the greatest advantage!

1 out of 6 times on the usual tyres this season. Mercedes, the qualifying masters, were just able to be on pole once and you're still asking me for explanations. :)
In Melbourne Hamilton and Vettel were on par after their first Q3 runs, if you remember. I have absolutely no idea how Hamilton managed to do this crazy lap on his second run, but I already told that it was Hammertime in my opinion. He nailed it, respect for that. He was already massively in front after the first turn! No secret that it's his turn.
What's more, in addition to that we have to consider that Ferrari was still having big problems with setup and therefore purposely running less downforce to compensate for their lack of downforce at the back.

Easy, Monaco Merc has always struggled. Canada the advantage was PU, the fact that Mercedes was as close as they were with an aging PU and the "bad" tires should wipe away any question but it doesn't. Because forums aren't know for people changing their opinions. :)

You missed the point completely! He wasn't just on pole he was on pole by the largest margin of the season, and on the tires so many claim don't suit them as well. Yet, some people go on and on throwing out all kinds of innuendo, about the special tires. Even though Vettel himself said post race Spain testing that the tires where not the Ferrari issue in Spain.

You clearly are seeing as Vettel admitted that Ferrari ‘seemed to be more comfortable on those tyres than the usual ones’ to use your words.
Look here’s a link for you. http://www.espn.co.uk/f1/story/_/id/235 ... -due-tyres

I’ll even cut and paste to save you having to look for it.
"I think it's pretty straightforward," he said. "Obviously you don't get the chance to revisit this kind of decisions that are made [very often], but we did it today and the result is that if we had had the normal tyres on Sunday, it would have probably been worse, so it was the correct call. It was our fault for not having the same tyre wear or life as other people."

I hope this post will be allowed to stay. It may help stop this idiotic and clearly debunked subject being brought up in every race thread.

Can anyone please make a containmant thread for the endless tyre story where LM10 and his pals could go on about it instead of bringing it up in a race thread where the tyres aren't even being used?

Mercedes big update! Pressure on Ferrari to get a good result. Do we know of any Ferrari and Red bull upgrades?
