But I do agree, I think he certainly has to score about as much as Magnussen to have a chance for a cockpit next season. But who would be available (except for Leclerc, should Ferrari decide to want him not in the Ferrari yet)?
I recall an article from a year or 3 ago that put a chassis at 900k$. Maybe they are less expensive now?
I read the same stuff, but it doesn't make much sense in my opinion.
This chassis at its EOL and only used for an upcoming test. Additionally they don't pay per part. They have a certain production capacity anyway and the running cost won't change much if they use 90% or 95% of its capacity. The price for the aerograde carbon fibre is about 100USD/kg, so maybe 100 000 USD per monocoque in materials.
What I can imagine, someone would buy the monocoque from Dallara they would charge that much, but for most F1 teams there won't be such a high cost associated to it.
