Regarding Vettels gearbox and wall-touching. There was something a bit strange about how quickly he aborted that lap right after the wall. Either he notice very fast that he damaged something or he is nursing that gearbox knowing it's important for the race too?siskue2005 wrote: ↑14 Sep 2018, 15:40yes, i also remember something like that....was it monza were he crashed in fp2?
Yeah I also though how quickly he darted to the pits... on-board didn't show anything on the dash... he just pulled in...bizzarePhil wrote: ↑14 Sep 2018, 15:57Regarding Vettels gearbox and wall-touching. If it was an old gearbox, I don't know... I just guess he would not have reacted that quick and darted into the pits like immediately? Just speculation on my part though...
Indeed.siskue2005 wrote: ↑14 Sep 2018, 16:30Yeah I also though how quickly he darted to the pits... on-board didn't show anything on the dash... he just pulled in...bizzarePhil wrote: ↑14 Sep 2018, 15:57Regarding Vettels gearbox and wall-touching. Why wouldn't he? It is Practice, it doesn't matter at all where he stands on the timing sheets.siskue2005 wrote: ↑14 Sep 2018, 16:30Yeah I also though how quickly he darted to the pits... on-board didn't show anything on the dash... he just pulled in...bizzarePhil wrote: ↑14 Sep 2018, 15:57Regarding Vettels gearbox and wall-touching. The gearbox is a practice one. Not alluding to you, but Lewis made about 3 errors in the two sessions and Seb brushed a wall. All 4 were tiny errors. Don't get the drama about Seb. It seems that the media is absolutely desperate.Phil wrote: ↑14 Sep 2018, 15:57Regarding Vettels gearbox and wall-touching. I just woke up, so I haven't seen it yet, but if he hit the wall hard enough to cause a hydraulic or radiator leak, I'd be shocked that the gearbox isn't damaged in some way.Restomaniac wrote: ↑14 Sep 2018, 16:42If however he has managed to smack the barrier hard enough to screw a radiator but not damage his gearbox then he has worked miracles.
but the hypersofts run showed they are not as good as Ferrari and Mercedesgodlameroso wrote: ↑14 Sep 2018, 17:37The Red Bulls have really good race pace it seems, hopefully they can stay in touch with the leaders long enough for their strengths to come in to play late race.
Not likely, you won't be able to follow closely like in Monza!siskue2005 wrote: ↑14 Sep 2018, 17:39but the hypersofts run showed they are not as good as Ferrari and Mercedes
They were like 0.4 sec down on the qualy run..... and i was surprised about how close the Merc to Ferrari....only 0.011 in it......we might get a monza style show down
