So after all the pre-season speculation about Ferrari’s superior car...

....Mercedes front row lockout.

Déja vu all over again.

Nicely done Mercedes! Very good lap by Bottas too.
Not for nothing, Rosberg's Championship is the only thing that lends credibility to Hamilton's recent success. Otherwise, he'd just be the guy who's had the best car. — bhall II

And unlike last year, it didn't look like there were any mistakes on Ferraris part!

Both the Mercedes have just battered both the Ferrari’s and RedBulls by around 3/4 of a second.

That is VERY ominous even on a track that isn’t the norm.

Oh and BTW Hamilton is a machine.

What a lap from Lewis under pressure there 8 poles at this track now. The gap to Ferrari 0.704 wow.

I guess that once again it is proven that FP times aren’t conducive of the pecking order

Erm ... Ferrari didn't turn up. 8th pole for Lewis.
And what a performance from Merc. Lewis is a whopping 2.295 sec ahead of Perez in p10! This season might turn out as unequal as 2014.

Mercedes stamps advantage in Melbourne qualifying

Mercedes had put an end to doubts that the team might struggle to beat Ferrari. As Hamilton took pole for the Australian Grand Prix and Bottas second, their 0.7s advantage over the competition it particularly telling.

Extremely close quali today. Mercedes just about locked out the front row. Ferrari are close and with a bit of luck Williams can challenge them in the race.

I thought Bottas had it today. Didn’t expect Hamilton to top that.
