Two cars in the points, can't remember when that happened. Only Racing Point was a match this race.

Still I would like to see the positives of this race. We were best of the rest and both cars hopefully will finish. It clearly shows that we are not clearly 4th by sheer luck so far.

I would say that out of BAD luck we are 4th only by 1 point...

I think the late pitstop by Norris was just giving the position back to Sainz. Sainz passed Norris on the track, yet Norris pitted first. As a result he ended up in front of Sainz.

McLaren has live commentary. When VSC came on, Sainz asked if they want to pit as they were 22 seconds ahead of Stroll. Norris obviously had the same thought and the team pitted Norris. If Norris didn't want to pit, Sainz would have pit. No one was giving the position back.

In fact, Sainz was allowed past Norris in the first stint (again you can see this in McLaren commentary) because Norris couldn't challenge Perez (team ordered Norris to let Sainz ahead). Later on Norris pitted first and Perez responded the next lap, this led to Sainz going long to attempt a different strategy than Perez/Norris, in the end it didn't work and Sainz got back behind Norris.

One of the things I like about McLaren this year is that they are quite down to earth, they will not fight against much faster cars (like against Leclerc today) and the guys will let each other in front when they cannot challenge the car infront. It's a really good team oriented way of doing business. I hope it continues. The goal is not the be ahead of your teammate, goal is to gain on the top 3 teams.

Sainz sure looked quicker in those few laps before he passed Norris. He was gaining on both Perez and Norris.

If they can set it up well, they can definitely be the 4th team

Good Result for the team today, I think we could have been a bit better but no matter both cars did what they were suppose to do and to have double finish this early in the season is quite encouraging for the rest of the season.

I am surprised. We had 36pts last year and only 18 this year. I know last year we lucked out a little bit in getting results but the lack of points surprises me.

Midfield battle is much more tight at the start of the season this year and more teams are fighting for p7 to p10. Last year we capitalize on HASS misfortunes and Alonso's stellar drive, but looking season long, I think this year we are in better position (car wise)

Im only regret is the gap to 3 top teams in race trim we were 2s slower per lap and its huge we need a lot more downforce we are competing against jet fighters the speed that Merc Ferra and Redb have is crasy in baku in particular lets wait for barcelona now and dream about a magic upgrade to take us closer to the 3 super teams

Forget about the top 3, without a budget cap they can't compete with them. I'm sure they are capable of closing the gap of two seconds somewhat, but fighting, nah. They are getting outspend 5:3.
