At the same time, Ross Brawn was the architect of the current Mercedes team. Would it surprise you to know that his decisions and input have benefitted Mercedes? Coincidental, perhaps, but you can't deny facts.

Yes, it's a coincidence. To think that Brawn would be working in the background at Liberty to make Mercedes successful is not only fantasy, it's an insult to a man who has a well regarded and successful career in motorsport.

Moreover, why would he do it for Mercedes, for whom he never worked, rather than Ferrari for whom he did work with amazing success?

People complain that the lack or racing is what is killing F1. Personally, I think this "I'm not winning or doing well so the rules need to be changed" mentality is what's killing it.

It's entitlement and elitism on steroids, so sad.......

LOL that really got me. Tires were there during the test. It's not like they change in between the races. Deal with it teams. At least it's more consistent than MotoGP where they were changing compounds and constructions in between races mid-season.

Agreed. I don't think anything will come of this, but the media likes to play theses things up as more uncertain than they actually are to generate clicks and discussion. Some people like to claim that the thinner-gauge tires were introduced to suit Mercedes despite all teams suffering from blistering. While that may be incidentally (but, crucially, not intentionally) true, if this sham of all shams went through, that would literally be Pirelli changing the tires to suit other teams.

As dans79 pointed out, the topic is definitely relevant for this thread. Only F1 could shoot itself in the foot like this and let a topic like this overshadow a race weekend 1 week after the same happened with "Penalty-gate."

The temps at Canada and France were sky high and yet we barely heard anybody being asked to conserve tires or any tire failures.

Big heat wave in Europe right now, super high temps predicted in Spielberg, hopefully the tires won't fall apart like last year. If they don't then it is some proof that these tire are superior .

Was there any complaints from the team's about not being able to switch on the tires from the last 2 races?

On race day track temps above 50°C are expected, 2018 tires would probably fall apart after 3 or 4 laps!
