That's a bit of a non-sequitur. All I'm saying is that racing happens outside of the race track as well, politics is very much a part of this sport and has been.dans79 wrote: ↑27 Jun 2019, 18:24It's not the suns fault you stood outside in the sun for far to long and got burnt.......godlameroso wrote: ↑27 Jun 2019, 18:19I stood in the sun and got sunburned but correlation doesn't equal causation...
Yes, it's a coincidence. To think that Brawn would be working in the background at Liberty to make Mercedes successful is not only fantasy, it's an insult to a man who has a well regarded and successful career in motorsport.godlameroso wrote: ↑27 Jun 2019, 17:51At the same time, Ross Brawn was the architect of the current Mercedes team. Would it surprise you to know that his decisions and input have benefitted Mercedes? Coincidental, perhaps, but you can't deny facts.
If it happens off the track it's not racing imo!godlameroso wrote: ↑27 Jun 2019, 18:39All I'm saying is that racing happens outside of the race track as well, politics is very much a part of this sport and has been.
You mean former Ferrari Chief Designer Nikolas Tombazis?dans79 wrote: ↑27 Jun 2019, 17:37People complain that the lack or racing is what is killing F1. Personally, I think this "I'm not winning or doing well so the rules need to be changed" mentality is what's killing it.
It's entitlement and elitism on steroids, so sad.......
https://www.autosport.com/f1/news/14441 ... -2018-tyreThe meeting has been called by the governing body amid concerns from a number of teams that this season's move to thinner tread tyres has hurt their form and helped Mercedes stretch its advantage at the front of the field.
While discussions have taken place among teams in private, the French Grand Prix has increased the conviction of a number of outfits that changes are needed to stop the 2019 season being a turn-off for fans.
The situation has prompted the FIA's head of single-seater technical matters Nikolas Tombazis to call a meeting before the opening practice session in Austria to see whether there is the majority support required to make a change for after the summer break.
It's related, the meeting is tomorrow morning before fp1!
LOL that really got me. Tires were there during the test. It's not like they change in between the races. Deal with it teams. At least it's more consistent than MotoGP where they were changing compounds and constructions in between races mid-season.zibby43 wrote: ↑27 Jun 2019, 19:59You mean former Ferrari Chief Designer Nikolas Tombazis?dans79 wrote: ↑27 Jun 2019, 17:37People complain that the lack or racing is what is killing F1. Anyway, the meeting over the tires will be a moot point. Mercedes, Williams, Force India, and McLaren will all stand against the changes. Renault is a toss-up, and Alfa does not want to switch, but could made to fall in line by the Scuderia.
Agreed. I don't think anything will come of this, but the media likes to play theses things up as more uncertain than they actually are to generate clicks and discussion. Some people like to claim that the thinner-gauge tires were introduced to suit Mercedes despite all teams suffering from blistering. While that may be incidentally (but, crucially, not intentionally) true, if this sham of all shams went through, that would literally be Pirelli changing the tires to suit other teams.digitalrurouni wrote: ↑27 Jun 2019, 20:30LOL that really got me. On race day track temps above 50°C are expected, 2018 tires would probably fall apart after 3 or 4 laps!ENGINE TUNER wrote: ↑27 Jun 2019, 20:44Aren't these the best tires pirelli have ever brought for F1?
The temps at Canada and France were sky high and yet we barely heard anybody being asked to conserve tires or any tire failures.
Big heat wave in Europe right now, super high temps predicted in Spielberg, hopefully the tires won't fall apart like last year. If they don't then it is some proof that these tire are superior .
Was there any complaints from the team's about not being able to switch on the tires from the last 2 races?
