So, you watched today when after both pit stops the Mercs threw off the sandbags?godlameroso wrote: ↑30 Jul 2019, 20:13This weekend it will simply be hot, so we can see. A high downforce track like Hungaroring will not benefit Ferrari, and should put Mercedes and Red Bull in a scrap for pole. After that the race should be pretty cut and dry and whoever has the best pace, tire management, and get away from the start will win. If Hamilton cannot pull away from Verstappen we'll know the truth. If Verstappen somehow gets ahead of Hamilton at the start, and if Hamilton manages to overtake, then I will concede your point.
Mercedes pace advantage could be as it were in 2013, when it could qualify strongly but would not have similar race pace as the Lotus of that year.
One of those if's; if that 6 sec advantage didn't melt down so fast, I think merc can not choose other strategy. Whatever. It is still good and fighting mercedes in some degree. Hope better in second part of season. They have to find a way to use tyres longerbobobaba wrote: ↑05 Aug 2019, 07:51I really wanted to see Honda on the top again here in Bp after 2006 Button, but I think, now the 2nd place was the maximum . There are many if, if.. .I think it would have been nearly impossible to overtake Ham after an extra pitstop .Not just catch, but overtake. I hope, with the spec 4 in the back it will be possible.
What is anxious by now is performance of Gasly. With a good second car in the back Ham could n't have done the extra pitstop. A good second car opens the possibilites in strategies and it is essential in second half of the season.
Positives: PU works brillianty in all cars and the chassis is getting better and better
get over it , let it go its not happeningKelsO wrote: ↑04 Aug 2019, 21:42This is not the original. It may be a little inaccurate. It's funny“It hurts us that only one of our riders is ahead,” said the head of Red Bull Racing. - Especially it concerns glasses in the Cup of designers. Gusli just needs to think over the first half of the season and learn from it during the break. To fight the Ferrari, we vitally need it to finish higher. ”
Speaking about the performance of Pierre at the Hungaroring, Horner did not defend his pilot.
“This weekend brought him disappointment,” Christian said. - He started poorly, had a poor first round. We must not fight with Sauber and McLaren. We need him to fight with Ferrari and Mercedes. The problem is that Pierre is not involved in the fight at all. There is no such thing that after a pit stop, Lewis rode behind him. But today, both Mercedes and Red Bull were one-legged, as their second cars dropped out of the fight. "
Horner noted that the team is still counting on Gasly, but expect him to seriously improve his form: “We want to leave Pierre behind the wheel until the end of the season. But we desperately need it to realize the potential of the machine. "
Hamilton: Well, firstly that's really awesome that he's supportive. I was watching some of the starts of previous years and watching him in his Renault days, remembering before I got to Formula One watching how amazing their starts were... I don't know how old Fernando is now but if he's always going to be a great driver. If he can get a good seat he is always welcome to battle with us. It doesn't make a difference necessarily to me, I'm here to fight whoever is here.
Verstappen: I think it was a bit of a shame I never had the chance to fight him in F1.
Hamilton: He'd be a good teammate for you ...
Verstappen: You had experience with it, I don't know.
Vettel: He doesn't want to [remember].
Hamilton: Speak to Christian!
Verstappen: [laughs] Well...
*Vettel is asked the question*
Vettel: I don't mind -- I don't think he ever really like me, I don't really know why! I don't mind him, I respect him for what he achieved and what he did on track. Bring him back, I don't mind.
Verstappen: Maybe he's a social media manager! No, to me he's always been very nice and good. I like that he is also now looking into other opportunities for racing. He just loves racing and he wants to win, he wants to be competitive. It's good to see.
Hamilton: This sport needs the best drivers in the best seats, you know. And there's still at least a seat available that's good enough for winning, and he's good enough for winning so it wouldn't be such a bad thing...
Verstappen: Maybe he can speak to Toto [Wolff]?
Hamilton: Well, Valtteri's great, Valtteri's been winning! You're the one with the extra seat, I would say...
Verstappen: [hands raised in the air] I didn't say that!
Regarding your first bit: 3 drivers could have done it. VER, HAM and possibly Alonso.wickedz50 wrote: ↑05 Aug 2019, 11:41Truly enjoyed the race yesterday, kudos to Lewis and it was only possible only by him behind the wheels. Good car, good strategic call but at the end its the driver who has to deliver under the pressure and that is why Lewis is the person who made the difference yesterday.
Regarding RBR and Ves .... phew! what more could he have done? that RBR car is right upto Merc standard, Honda done very well. I am sure in races to come and next few years this will turn out to be a great duel.
Actually I think the key for RB losing this start is in these 6 seconds. Ham didnt use qualy mode for those 2,5 laps when he melted these 6 seconds. He used Strat 5 (qualy mode they use in Q1) for 5 laps after Ver pitstop and before Ham pitted for hard. After that I think he used Strat 9 because while chasing Max with hards Bono told him that he can use Strat 8 of he need. First five laps with hards for Max were 1,20:9 - 1,21:7 - 1:22:1 - 1,22:1 and 1,22:2 then Lewis pitted and difference was 6 seconds. Watch for Lewis`s laps now on hards with Strat 9 - 1,19:653 - 1, 19:331 and he was less than a second after Max. For just 2 laps and a half. So Lewis had alot faster race pace with hards but still managing their life ( Bono told him that tires are ok - they were just overheating the brakes and also they dont expect others to be so good in managing hard tires). This near 3 seconds race pace difference with hards make me thing that 2 versions are possible:
Marko change his tune...
https://www.gpblog.com/nl/nieuws/42992/ ... alen-.htmlWhen asked whether Gasly should be scared of a phone call during the summer break, Marko leaves aside. "We will now first start the summer break, then we will see further."
Yes but the car was approximately 38 kilos lighter on lap 53...loner wrote: ↑05 Aug 2019, 14:06on 27 old hard tyres Max bulled 3 great laps 53,54,55 post respectively green 1:19.560 and plus 2 tenths 1:19.851 , 1:19.813 against 3 laps old medium with Hamilton, destroyed his hards
they should of gamble the soft in lap 56 going low 18, there was a chance, they caved with nothing to lose, hopefully
a good lesson to be braver later on.
