Those last 20 laps of the race were fantastic. I gotta say thanks to Pirelli for having given drivers tires where they could push.
A. Were they really? On one stoppers in Hungary? I doubt it.

B. They were still saving fuel and engines.

Fuel and engine are fine, but people gotta remember that most of the performance from decent tires and pitting more is performance from cornering at a higher speed and better traction/less wheel spin out of corners. You don't at all have to increase fuel usage to go 2 seconds a lap from much better rubber, fuel usage can be exactly the same while going faster on new rubber or slower on older harder tires. So fuel/engine doesn't make much difference, but as per my comment above, yeah, the tires weren't great in Hungary. basically only worked particularly well for a single guy on the entire grid.

Got a question for you all. How many of you thought, at the moment Hamilton went into the pits for his last stop, that he had a hope of catching verstap? I'm a hamilton fan and i thought "You just screwed up again" Still thinking about germany i thought "Here we go again" The only chance i thought he had was because he had pushed verstap so hard in the middle stint. But honestly after the first few laps after his stop when he was only gaining tenths of a second i thought it was over. So be honest now.

My first though was, brilliant move, Verstappen has lost it. I remembered Hamilton doing something similar during his McLaren days. Plus, pushing for laps time takes more out of your tires then keeping someone behind you. Verstappen was going to run out of tires before the finish line this way.

I knew immediately it was lost. You can even look up my direct reply in the race thread already congratulating Merc. In himdsight there was still a small possibility if they had pitted Verstappen in lap 57. Until that point the time loss was contained but after that it went with seconds at a time and RB should have made the calculation. If they had done so Max would have returned on track 6 seconds behind Hamilton but with a lot fresher tyres he could have attacked back perhaps.

Why do they keep on showing this shoulder cam on Hamilton's car while with the other drivers they only show the T-cam. I'm sick and tired of having to watch his onboards with this camera angle.

Is Bottas also shown with shoulder cam? If so it is a Mercedes thing.
Edit; apparantly not. But the German GP I could swear he had the T-cam view as we could see the damage to the left winglet on the nose.

No,Bottas doesn't have any shoulder cam on his car. They have always shown Bottas onboard with the T-cam.

Yeah saw it, weird.

Anyone with connection who could find out why this is happening. I find the shoulder cam useless because it gives a bad sense of how the car is handling (cant see understeer well).

It seems FOM have an obsession of wanting to show Lewis onboard with this shoulder cam all the time. I cannot understand why they keep doing this even though the majority of the fans don't want it.

Maybe sponsor logos show better, but if Merc requested it you would expect it at Bottas too.

They started to use the shoulder cam as the main onboard camera in 2017. It could be because that someone in FOM felt that it's closer the view of what the drivers had.

In 2018, due to Halo blocking the view they had to dump it. But in the late 2018 they changed the shoulder cam to a slightly higher position to avoid the view blocking Halo and then used it on Renault. Then it got back to 2017 at the beginning of 2019, but fans all complained about it in Australia pole onboard youtube comment section, so FOM then decided to have the top 3 teams to use T-cam for one driver and shoulder cam for another. So it's been Lewis shoulder cam Bottas T-cam, Leclerc shoulder cam Vettel T-cam, Gasly shoulder cam Max T-cam since that.

So FOM is actually getting a bit better for actually listening to fans. In 2017 they never listened to fans complaint about the shoulde cam.

In Hockiemheim they used T-cam for Lewis because of the rain and that the T-cam had this rolling film mechanism to get rid of the droplet in front of the lens.
