verstappen's fp2 lap - 1.28.066 (P3)

Car looks good, a bit nervous in second part of spoon, first losing the rear just a bit, then running too wide as a result.
See if they can dial it in a little better with some time tonight, that second sector around spoon and the hairpin is the time loss. Remarkable how different the Honda sounds during partial and off throttle instances now.Juzh wrote: ↑11 Oct 2019, 10:15verstappen's fp2 lap - 1.28.066 (P3)

S-curves & Degner 1 is ridiculous, and Red Bull didn't even score the best S1 in FP2.Juzh wrote: ↑11 Oct 2019, 10:15verstappen's fp2 lap - 1.28.066 (P3)

I also realised that. So didn't they use these parts by now but just added to pool for this race or is it just a different map? If this different sounds comes from same hardware it is a bit more strange for me.GhostF1 wrote: ↑11 Oct 2019, 10:27See if they can dial it in a little better with some time tonight, that second sector around spoon and the hairpin is the time loss. yeah degner 1 is bonkers. remember that alonso lap from 2017 when he did 250 at the apex? Now it's 262 kmh, in fp2.yelistener wrote: ↑11 Oct 2019, 11:01S-curves & Degner 1 is ridiculous, and Red Bull didn't even score the best S1 in FP2.Juzh wrote: ↑11 Oct 2019, 10:15verstappen's fp2 lap - 1.28.066 (P3)

You're making my point. Everything is a moving target.Juzh wrote: ↑11 Oct 2019, 09:02That's simply not the case. Last's year RB was without a shaddow of doubt the best car on the grid chassis wise in later stages, but could not compete on most tracks because renault PU was 1s behind merc and even more to ferrari.diffuser wrote: ↑10 Oct 2019, 23:52I beleive the lack of patience with RBR/Honda stems from a misconception that RBR racing was only missing a good relieable PU to push them over the top. This year, not unlike McLaren's 1st year with Renault, they've learned that they're lacking in other places as well.
This year situation is different. Merc and ferrari have both came up with fundamentally better cars and neutered RB's advantage in this area. Had red bull not gotten a much more competitive engine in honda this year they would be absolutely nowhere, possibly even seconds adrift.
You may be right.Ground Effect wrote: ↑11 Oct 2019, 10:12I think it's a case of cause and effect. Red Bull consistently end the year with probably the best car, which could be because they develop further into the season, to be able to pick up wins here and there. By this time, Mercedes and Ferrari have probably switched to their next years car, addressing rule changes. This usually leads to Red Bull being slow out of the box because they switch full focus late, then they are playing catch up. Next year the rules are stable, so Mercedes and Ferrari have the luxury of developing further into the season than usual. We can see the effect.Juzh wrote: ↑11 Oct 2019, 09:02That's simply not the case. BTW, I did a frame comparison between Max's lap and 2017 pole. Through the S-curves they were exactly neck & neck, despite Max's minimum speeds through those corners were significantly higher. Minimum speeds are really only telling half of the story.
