What Max said should be irrelevant they should look at hard evidence they said it was okay " mini sectors " decisions are now being made with emotions why take a 180 degree turn. Fia are discrediting themselves.

It's so nice not to have a dog in the controversy du jour. Let's see what happens on Sunday.
Max could have killed Valterri if he had lost control of his RedBull in that corner. Flooring it past the yellow is a serious offence and he should have gotten a five place grid drop minimum. He has much to learn young Max.
This!
And... Max is really stupid. Arrogance and stupidity will bury his career
It's not arrogance, all haters like to say that as usual here. He was just being honest. Anyways he would have lost pole anyways at start so this is a better position to start.

Do you seriously think that the FIA decide whether Max lifted off or not by looking at mini sector data? If yes, it would be utterly stupid.

And let's be honest, it's yet again a scandal that the FIA was not going to investigate it, but just did so because of the words which came out of Verstappen's mouth.

The arrogance is referred to the super confidence that he can floor it and not also make a mistake, for which the yellows exist to prevent.

Also "second rate Bottas" as if Max or anybody else hasn't made dud mistakes crashing into the walls here. You want people pushing to the maximum, well they're gonna crash more often.

It was either arrogance or stupidity. He was either being arrogant to say what he said, or he was stupid to say what he said. Either way, he should learn from it. Either learn to live with a straight face, or learn to micro-lift so the telemetry shows he backed off. A tap of the brake pedal would probably be enough to show recognition of the event/yellow flag.
If you are more fortunate than others, build a larger table not a taller fence.

saying what he said in the conference is arrogance and i hope it was, cause he can work on it.
If it was stupidity, then he will be the new Grosjean.

also, the penality was mandatory and the stewerds are stupid to act only after that press conference.
they also lost a lot of time only to try to find a ``rosberg minisectors`` excuse to avoid the penalty and that time feeds the troll, every troll (hater or fan of Max)

Another bad page for F1.

Are we seriously discussing this? Double waved yellows and he didn’t slow down. Clear penalty. Double yellows mean be ready to stop the car at any time. Max could not have known what was in front of him. A car could have been on the track. Marshals or a driver could be running around.

What else should the FIA do? Delete his laptime? That is no penalty as the lap is ruined anyways once double yellows are shown.

From my point of view he got lucky with only three places. Especially in Mexico where there is a beautiful tow down to turn 1.

Would VET have passed LEC if not for the double yellows? Does anyone know?

stupid penalty from Verstappen, probably had his thoughts on Rosberg not slowing down while Alonso was parked across the track a couple of years ago. Probably wasn't sure about his pole and took the risk. Penalty deserved. But, I do like that Verstappen didn't try to make up stories. Just straight up: I didn't lift, I saw the accident.

Wait, Lewis didn't slow down after Bottas' crash either, but he didn't get a penalty. Is it because they hadn't put out the yellow flag yet, or what?

No yellow flag/light then no penalty. In other sports, it's called "play to the whistle".
