What's the T in the tyre types mean?

Is that 2020 tyre testing?

Sent using Tapatalk
yes. Each driver gets 2 sets of those (C4 2020 spec if I'm not mistaken) this weekend

TV says the track sunk 1.5 meters inplaces due to Texas' expansive soil. All these bumps are going to be painful for Red Bull's performance if what was said about Singapore was true.

I don't know whether the incorrect name or the incorrect grammar offends me more.

Doubt it, most of the bumps are on the back straight. The rest of the track has bumps but they're not too bad.

While I agree there is no way the track has sunk 1.5 meters, I have been to industrial sites in the area of San Marcos (just south of the track) and have seen foundations sink 6-12 inches. The exterior areas of doors going into buildings have been excavated to allow the door to continue to operate. You have to step down to go into the building.

I wonder if they had to take any precautions for the tyre test, iirc there were issues with the tyres scraping the floor cutouts because they have a different shape and the teams running the tests had to cut away some of the floor - since they wouldn't be able to do it here some journos suggested they could use modular pieces in that area ... or they just dialed down the rake thus moving the floor further away from the tyres

edit: here's the article mentioning it https://www.auto-motor-und-sport.de/for ... -probleme/

Interesting the need for the announcers to talk about IndyCar for so much of the broadcast. I thought this was an F1 event...

The bumps are absolutely horrible, Grosjean's crash looks down to them.

Sainz in FP1 was caused by a bump.

Hamilton put in a great lap. He got probably a tenth off a tow in S2, however. The Merc tires are in better shape entering S3.

What I find interesting is that Hamilton gained half a second in S2 and just half a tenth in S3 compared to Vettel. Would excepted that to be the other side around.

He had a tow in S2 which surely played a role there. The question is, by how much.
What I found funny as well was when Bottas asked his engineer how Hamilton’s lap time was possible.
