Watching some of the testing on my mobile during lunch and Carlos just said they are shocked at how fast they are.

He also said that he set his fastest time on a C3 tire but the motorsport.com graphics show C4? Did he misspeak?

He didnt really improve his time on the C4

Relax maybe it was his sense of humour but he his happy about his car whitch is the mosf important

Besides it's unethical for the other teams that have consumed sweat and hundreds of hours to create their own car.

In the meantime Autosport made a mistake regarding rubber as he has Racing Point with Yellow C3 when in fact 3 tyres were C4 and 1 was C3 so this time is mostly C4.

Even if RP is a bit in front, the difference seems to be marginal. 0.15 in the same tire is not so bad. Testing so far has indicated that the McLaren has better race pace so we definitely have something to fight with here. Besides, the fact that the correlation is good bodes well for further upgrades. When also taking into account what PhilipM said that the car has more downforce this year, there is a lot of potential to unlock more speed mechanically as well. In the other hand RP will have to develop a car that was near perfect at the end of the last season.
I certainly think we have more margin for improvement over the season.

Merc already said the car reached a development dead end, so I can only see them dropping off the further we get in

Remember as well that next season the Merc engine will be in the back of McLaren- I won’t mind seeing RP mixing it with the big boys with a view to next year and strengthening McLaren.

We want to see Merc PU teams taking steps forward, it will just cause some annoyance for this season.

Autosport, Motorsport (okey same deal) and SKY had Mclaren at 9th last year after testing

For us however we wanna see Mclaren being a clear 4th and halving the distance with the first 3. We are all Mclaren here. Not Mercedes or Honda or Renault. For me Mercedes is just a part. The team Mclaren is the one gaining the benefits.

Perez and Sainz are on an incredibly similar race run. Virtually same amount of laps per stunt and Sainz is on average 0.2s quicker. It’s pretty consistent. Looks like the MCL35 is kind on it’s tyres too. Things looking good!

If anyone can compare the two long runs this afternoon and stick it in a spreadsheet comparison for the two I’d be much obliged

That is good. If our car is just as kind as last years car we can make some fantastic strategies with that compared to our rivals.
